Mrs. Hammerhead and I are going and booked seats on the charter flight. This will be our 4th game. We flew from Oregon for the 2011 and 2014 championship games and drove down from Fargo for the 2015 championship when we could also take more time off to visit my in-laws in the Rio Grande valley.

We've been to Frisco every year except for the first but have always flown or drove a car. Looking into potentially bringing the RV down this year and just curious how the tailgating setup works for that. Do they allow you to "camp" in the lot the night before the game or the night after the game or is it day of only? Does anyone know what time they typically open and what time after the game you need to be out of there?

Secondary question, any recommendations for good places to stay with the RV the nights before or after the game?

Sorry, by high I meant most priority points where number one is the highest ranking. If schools get 4,000 tickets and all of those were doled out to fans (which isn't likely) you could still be at #2,001 and miss the cut if everyone from 1 to 2,000 requests two tickets. I'm sure NDSU saves some seats for bigwigs, family members of coaches, etc.

They use to allow you to park the night before, couldn’t tailgate the night before or hang out to much outside the RV. It was a courtesy thing so you didn’t need to find a spot to camp. I guess it changed after the Youngstown/JMU game. The last few we checked with the hotel and rented a room and they allowed us to park the RV. This year we are going down early and hanging out in a nearby RV park until the night before where we are doing the hotel thing.

There are some reasonable flights out of Minneapolis. American Airlines has them in 475 range. I got a first class flight at a reasonable price.

Got a ticket on hold for $750 direct to and from Dallas on American the Wednesday before the game. I had to risk $5 for the ticket via a hold that the Bison would win. On Saturday, after the win, I finalized the purchase. Seems like it worked. This is out of Bismarck.

Right now the Delta Direct flight down they added is selling for $320 one way down

Leaves Friday at 2:20pm arrives in DFW 5:30. If that was Thursday night it would be sold out.

The return flight on Sunday is still up at 800 but is has fallen over $250 just in the last 24 hours. Guessing after Christmas that one will come down even more

That seems to be the case every year (at least with an opposing fan base than can sell out their allotment) where the opposing team's ticket office has their allotment doled out before Christmas but for some reason NDSU's ticket office needs a week in between when requests are due and when notifications are sent out. I know that was the same story in 2019 with JMU.

Scored 4 tickets Friday night right after the game while enjoying a beer at Applebees. A JMU fan and his son walked into the bar portion (it was full) and asked if he could sit at our table (just me and another guy). I replied "sure". We talked about the game and he mentioned that, now, he had 4 tickets he needed to sell......BINGO !!!! Bought them on the spot for face value; he electronically transferred tickets, and my group is set. My perfect Frisco attendance record will be intact; also, this year , I'm bringing my Mrs. along for the first time......I consider the wife a Frisco virgin.

Get in line REALLY EARLY. 11am KO comes around pretty fast. Also leave for the game at 10. The lines will be long and slow. If you dont you will miss the KO.

That's a possible impact this year too. This is the 9th time the Bison have been there and it's been the same thing almost every year. The exceptions were Towson and possibly Illinois State who brought much smaller groups. They probably never spiked. Plus I think both years a lot of Bison fans had 3 pack tickets early. This is still a niche event with a large part of the fan base being far from the game site. There isn't going to be a lot of last minute demand, but there will be people who realize they have access to other tickets or realize they can't make it for some reason.

It is a rather large one time expense that isn't always needed. Surprised we don't see a similar donation request sent to the general public unless like you say they already have a private donors lined up each year.

The $1k per member the MSU article cites seems a bit high for bussing down the band, unless they are flying being they are even further away.

However, it seems more than a bit ironic that none of the big bowl games were impacted at all... as in they went on as schedule but also I didn't hear about a single player who had to sit out in any of the CFP semis or New Year's Day games due to a positive COVID test. My guess is when the games actually matter there's a very different interpretation of what "showing symptoms" is as compared to when the games don't really matter.

Yes. Just get the kids in the gate and they can sit in your lap. The staff there don’t really check tickets other than to guide you to correct seats. Some sections will stand more than others and that kind of makes it easier to have an extra kid with you. Plus, often there are extra open seats just randomly around. There used to be a separate entrance in NW corner for families with very limited security checks and way way shorter lines but not sure if still around.

Bring range of gear for kids from snow pants and boots like one going ice fishing to shorts and T shirts for post game tailgate. Have a plan where to meet when storming the field.

Babes is pretty good comfort food. I would have to say their chicken strips are the best Ive had. They serve everything family style.

I suspect you will find that to be the case at every hotel. Other than this game there is basically no tourism right now. We are at a 34% covid positivity rate right now which is about 3x more cases than when we shut down before. The state government removed the authority of the local governments to put restrictions in place thats the only thing keeping the game going. Usually there are also people unrelated to the championship also staying in all the northern suburb hotels. Not so much now.

We have stayed here the last eight times. Usually 12+ rooms. It’s my understanding that it is no longer the media hotel, as it has been in the past. We love the location.

My brother and I and because we drive and bring the tailgating trailer down every year most of crew decided back in Aug to skip Frisco this year. I was 100% fine with it until this morning. We always leave on Wed. Almost always in a blizzard. Reading all the posts, reading the news articles. Now I'm only about 60% ok with not going. This will be the first year we didn't go and I have to say I feel a little left out. LOL
