After watching JMU dismantle a very average Griz team last night, I am VERY comfortable saying if you guys don't turn the ball over you EASILY win by double digits against the Dukes. Your defense matches up very well with the JMU offense and I think you can get pressure with 4 and not need to blitz. I also believe your secondary is more than adequate against the skill players JMU has.

The really one sided part of this game will be NDSUs OL against the JMU DL You guys will maul and dominate them on both lines. If our shitty OL can block enough to rush for 150+ yards you guys will rush for 350-400 on them. If your OC stays committed to the run.

I am not saying this in a spiteful way but this years NDSU team is 65 to 70% less than years past and you still have the edge on JMU IMO. Don't turn the ball over and you guys will ROEHL into Frisco yet again.

While JMU’s defense look statistically similar to 2019, the reality is that 6 of JMU’s 12 opponents played with their 2nd or 3rd string QB due to injury. It was a very soft schedule because of that.

The Bison should find it easy to shut down the Dukes’ running game which has been the program’s worst statistically since 2002. Besides the soft Big Sky Montana team, JMU hasn’t been able to run on anyone only averaging 163 yards per game. Most of the problem is with an O-line starting 3 Freshmen due to injuries and early graduations. RB 1 and RB 2 are both also out for the year.

It's not the false starts that the crowd noise affects. Offensive line can't hear the cadence so they have to be looking at the ball so the defense gets a split second advantage with the line push. That and audibles at the LOS are damn near impossible at times. However, I haven't heard the dome rocking like it can for a while now. Lots of ppl sitting on their hands. Hope we bring it this weekend though.

Hopefully there’s a lot of marketing in campus for kids to stay for the game before leaving after finals. One of my favorite pregames was after getting demolished in a 3 hour geotech final, then heading straight to tailgating and getting demolished there too lol

Yeah it must've been some arbitrary criteria such as history or some secret underhanded dealings that gave NDSU the nod over JMU.

Not the fact that every professional anaysis rating system I've seen has NDSU ahead of JMU. No, couldn't have been that.

The logical thing would be to swap JMU with Pud Sacramento state. Ndsu and JMU should never be on the same side. Sacramento state fizzled early, per usual.

The reality is that by every measurable rating (Massey, Sagarin, etc.) the strength of the Bison schedule is higher than the JMU schedule. The Bison had 3 wins against playoff teams and 1 loss against a playoff team. JMU had 1 loss against a playoff team. If you want to say Rhode Island should have been in over UNI, than that would still be in favor of NDSU 2 wins against playoff teams to 1. In terms of seeding alone, NDSU should have been above JMU. Now, none of that means that NDSU is the better team or that they will win on Friday. However, in terms of evaluating the season resume for seeding purposes NDSU had a better resume. If JMU would have beaten Nova they would have been above NDSU and would have had homefield. It is what it is.

Will never forget this sequence (just like in poker the bad beats stay with you);

It's tied at 17 early in the 4th quarter. JMU has a 4th and 19 from the NDSU 33 yard line that they line up to go for since it's too far for a FG and kinda useless to punt. The head linesman standing in front of JMU coach Mike Houston grants him a timeout after the ball is snapped. Everyone keeps playing since no one could hear the whistle amongst the crowd noise and Greg Menard torches their LT for what looked like a drive ending sack. Then we find out the timeout was granted. Houston proceeds to flip out that his QB got hammered on a play that didn't count. After the TO as they line up Bison DE Brad Ambrosius (in a 4 point stance at DE) bobs his head like he's ready to jump the snap. It looks like the LT moves slightly so the same head linesman blows the play dead and calls Ambrosious for being offside (I guess since he claimed his movement caused the LT to jump???) which moves the ball forward 5 yards allowing JMU's kicker to kick a career long (by 10+ yards) FG for a 20-17 lead that they would never relinquish.

I remember looking it up a while back and there is a provision in the offsides rule that a defender can be called offside if they "threaten an offensive lineman, causing an immediate reaction" without any mention of them being in the neutral zone: https://rulebook.github.io/en/rules/2/sections/18/

I guess that's what they ruled here but it sure seems like a really liberal interpretation of "threatening the o-lineman" in this scenario. I'm sure Houston tearing into them during that entire timeout for the hit on his QB played a factor in it. Because they would've had to call a false start there if they didn't call offsides.

Yeah I do remember thinking that he didn't actually cross the neutral zone so it should've been a false start. Still, I thought JMU was the better team that day and deserved to win.

The ridiculous amount of injuries we had and the ridiculous amount of JMU players that popped positive after the game have helped me come to grips with it :)

Also, officials shouldn’t be making bullshit calls a major playoff game that they wouldn’t even think of making in a relatively insignificant regular season game.
