MVC has 2 bids with DBU (92) winning championship over IN St. Summit no shot, ORU ranked 118. IN St 30-19 ranked that high was a big surprise to me. They went 2-2 vs #16 Tennesse and won 2 out of 3 vs then #20 FAU, who is now 32-25. That didnt take much did it Indiana State. After DBU, the MVC isn’t very good, and the rest of their schedule much like ours.

Next year it should be a little easier to schedule when/if the B1G stop playing with themselves only.

It will be interesting to see how Tod Brown will use the starting rotation this weekend. Do you use the Summit League Tourney rotation order of Loven, Feeney, Sanken . . . Or do you trot out Feeney vs Stanford? Bison will need their best effort to hang with Stanford, with both pitching and defense. Lots of power in the Cardinal lineup.

Question: Being that March madness is different than a double elimination NCAA baseball tournament, how colossal is us beating Nevada today? Obviously if we get to the super regionals, that is the equivalent of reaching the sweet 16. Assuming sports fans, in general, were as excited about college baseball as they are college basketball, is it fair to say the Nevada win is somewhere between our first four NCCU win and 12-5 seed win over Oklahoma?

Whatever happens, seeing NDSU baseball do well is great. Back in my days, they were neither good nor well-founded, which kinda goes hand-in-hand. Happy to see we have made major positive steps.

The number of people who follow the College World Series is much smaller than March Madness. Many don't start following until they get to Omaha. Very few people know the Bison beat Nevada today.

For the team and the school though it's a great victory and they should be very proud. That has nothing to do with the exposure.

If I recall they were ranked just outside the seeded group so this probably isn't a huge upset. The Bison got a tough draw with the top 2 teams.

Correct....depending on which poll you look at, UCI was anywhere from 15th - 17th....they are always a contender, solid pitching/defense, and guys who take quality AB's and battle at the plate.

Difference to me, is two-fold:

1) As many have said before, pitching. To get to the upper echelon in the college baseball world, you have to be able to run out at least two "Friday night starters"...see Vanderbilt with Rocker and Leiter. You watch these regional games, you see teams running out kids throwing at least low 90's, with some having bigger, power arms who work in the mid 90's consistently, with wipeout breaking pitches.
2) Line-up depth. I'll give credit to my old college teammate, Coach Pearson...he has those kids taking a great approach at the plate; however, we just don't have the luxury of a lot of the top-tier teams, as they can fill four-five spots (if not more) in their line-up with Hostetler type hitters. Not a knock on the current roster, just a fact.

Be nice to see us grab some of these kids away from Minnesota/Nebraska/other P5 in the recruiting game...but, as with anything, that poses a challenge. Hell, one of Schwabe's college teammates at Boone is currently the lead-off hitter for NC State and hitting well over .300....would have been a solid package deal.

At any rate....helluva season by the boys and hopefully they can keep that momentum going forward.

Virginia just punched their ticket to Omaha with a 5 2 win over Dallas Baptist. Did it the hard way by winning the last two games. Was cheering for DB to win; also cheer for teams that have never been to the CWS.
