What if NDSU went undefeated this year (with UNH on the sch.) and was ranked #1 in the country?

Wouldn't the NCAA have to have a special session to vote if NDSU could be let into the playoffs?

Question #1 response- that would be awesome.

Question #2 response- no.

We would probably get talked about more in the national press if we went undefeated and DIDN'T go to the playoffs than if we went undefeated and did go, because the press loves an interesting angle.

True.

It would be like the BCS mess for the DIaa level.

Answers: We'd be ranked over a non-BCS conference team in the BCS poll. UND fans would claim we played nothing but "patsies".

Question #2 response: not going to happen even if we are 11-0

The wins/losses doesn't really matter that much. We could go 11-0 playing all NAIA and DIII schools.

That's why I specified being ranked #1 in the country.

Being ranked #1 isnt going to make it happen either - its pretty simple - we are not eligible for the playoffs for five years. 1st=2003 2nd=2004 3rd=2005 4th=2006 5th=2007

If we went undefeated I can't even begin to imagine what that would do to our fan support for next year ;D

However, I doubt this will be the case. Everyone has a bad day sometime right?

NDSU was eligible for the DII playoffs in 2003 :-/

Yes, but 2003-04 counted as the first year in the transition, otherwise known as the "exploratory year".

TMTDM finish 10-1 they final transition year.

NCAA no care. No playoff. Mr. Ho don't even think TMTDM ranked that year. TMTDM even beat IA team. Lose one game 10-9, miss extra point. Suck big time.

Step up to plate. Play TMTDM. Bison hang big time.

If they would have made the playoffs in DII and played would that have set them back a year for the transition, or does that not matter?

No, it would not have set us back.

Mr. Ho

The NDSU AD seems rather adamant that most I-A teams will not play NDSU until they have averaged the required 60 grants over three preceding years to make the game qualify for bowl eligibility (2007 would be the earliest). If this game is going to happen, the Troy AD is probably going to have to contact the NDSU AD first. :-/

We play those two school before they have all numbers.

We just want good game not stiff like Fred McMurray State or DII team. Mr. Ho afraid we play DII team now. That not good.

I've never heard of a I-A team playing a D-II team. That wouldn't count toward bowl elligibility - basically all it would be was a change to sell some tickets.

But I wouldn't worry about it, there are always I-AA teams willing to play for a decent payout. It's not uncommon for these open dates to be filled rather late. The ADs usually want to exhaust all other options first.

Hey Mr. Ho,

I heard that Mankato suddenly had a date open up.
