Nebraska features a familiar face for Bison fans - Western Illinois grad transfer Kobe Webster - PG - 6’ 172 - (2nd Team All-Summit)

2020-21 OUTLOOK

Graduate transfer Kobe Webster has wasted little time in becoming one of the leaders for the Husker program. Webster, a 6-foot, 172-pound guard from Indianapolis, Ind., spent the last three seasons at Western Illinois, scoring over 1,400 points and dishing out nearly 300 assists in 85 career starts. He paced WIU in scoring and assists in each of his three seasons, earning second-team All-Summit League accolades in 2019 and 2020. His basketball IQ has helped make it a smooth transition, and Webster's shot-making ability will be a boost to the Huskers' offensive attack. A career 37 percent shooter from 3-point range, Webster has the ability to thrive in the Huskers' attack......

......Webster started all 26 games as a junior, averaging 17.1 points, 3.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game in 2019-20. He ranked among the Summit League leaders in scoring (sixth), assists (fifth) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.72-to-1, fourth) en route to garnering second-team all-conference recognition.......

Webster played 20 minutes against Nevada in the 69-66 Nebraska loss, scoring 13 points. He was part of a 5 player recruiting class signed last spring by Fred Hoiberg:

https://huskers.com/news/2020/4/15/huskers-announces-mens-basketball-recruiting-class.aspx

Hoiberg was good at recruiting while at Iowa State, looks like he will continue that at Nebraska - this recent signing period he inked a 3 man class rated Top-30.

Good opportunity in tough but winnable game. NDSU could very well start 0-5 this year with a tough SDSU team in December if they can't get this one.

Big Bird

3 turnovers and only 1 bucket. Some poor D too

El_Chapo

at least this isn't on national tv..... :(

Down 16-4. Husker defense has us running our weave 25-feet from the basket, 5-feet further than normal.

El_Chapo
11-28-2020, 04:09 PM
knotek w 2. score is 4-16. woof.

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 04:10 PM
Nebraska smothering NDSU and on fire downtown.

Several times NDSU has had to pick up their dribble and caused a turnover or a horrible set.

Griesel has looked so uncomfortable shooting from the outside early this year.

bruinbison
11-28-2020, 04:11 PM
Need some confident shooters!
Maybe Knotek will be.
Rocky slow on offense so far...

slips
11-28-2020, 04:13 PM
This is embarrassing!

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 04:15 PM
NDSU has found a way to start a game worse than they did vs Nevada. This is horrible

El_Chapo
11-28-2020, 04:17 PM
Weave wont work as Nebraska is jumping lanes, need cut back passes or back screens.,

shot clock violation...

bruinbison
11-28-2020, 04:18 PM
No shot clock awareness......sigh

Well, no need to for the players to be nervous being on the Big 10 Network. Time to just try and play well, see if you can cut the lead in half by halftime

HoopsBison
11-28-2020, 04:19 PM
Yikes this is hard to watch, turnovers, poor defense and no one can create their own shot.

Not online but turning on 1660 and staring into the trash seems to sync up pretty closely

11-28-2020, 04:20 PM
The Bison have graduated from throwing up garbage as the shot clock expiring to having no clue how much time is left on the shot clock and not even getting shots off...SMH

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 04:20 PM
6 turnovers through 8 minutes.

This team isn't good enough to overcome this many errors.

El_Chapo
11-28-2020, 04:23 PM
8-21

ndsu shoots a 3 and no 1 hustles after the rebound

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 04:24 PM
That would've been a sweet alley oop for Nebby, but the rim said "not today"

bruinbison
11-28-2020, 04:24 PM
Skunberg - nice!
Needs to show his teammates how to do that aggressive misdirection pass fake, get yourself some space

semobison
11-28-2020, 04:26 PM
Greisel at the point doesn't work!

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 04:26 PM
Skunberg - nice!

Kid has some offensive juice. He and Knotek look like the most comfortable shot creators and takers on the team early on this year

HoopsBison
11-28-2020, 04:30 PM
Hopefully Carter can heal up quick, really need to get Griesel off the point and back to his normal position.

El_Chapo
11-28-2020, 04:31 PM
17-24.... getting a lil respectable

Big Bird

This Ouedraogo guys is a tank and more than a handful down low, but man he has been a really bad finisher.

Banton has taken over this game for Nebraska the last couple minutes

El_Chapo
11-28-2020, 04:39 PM
is Knotek our best player? happy with him.

HoopsBison
11-28-2020, 04:40 PM
Nice to have Knotek back out there.

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 04:40 PM
Cook is a really nice complementary wing. Quick, solid shooter, and moves the ball.

HoopsBison
11-28-2020, 04:47 PM
Well closed the half much better after a terrible start. Still need to defend and take care of the ball much better. This team gonna struggle to win giving up 43 in a half.

43-36 Nebraska at half.

El_Chapo
11-28-2020, 04:48 PM
36-43 @ half. Knotek with the 3 at buzzer

good job crawling back

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 04:48 PM
NDSU only down 7 at half thanks to 13 second chance points and a buzzer beating Knotek 3.

Nebraska has outshot the Bison and committed fewer turnovers, but the second chance points have kept NDSU in it.

semobison
11-28-2020, 04:50 PM
Got back in it on the offensive boards and Knotek's shooting!

Bison03
11-28-2020, 04:51 PM
Well...still hanging around thanks to aggressive offensive rebounding. We aren’t going to out shoot them, so I guess we will have to out muscle them.

HoopsBison
11-28-2020, 04:52 PM
Bison scoring as followed:

Knotek 12
Cook 7
Krueser 7
Griesel and Eady 4
Skunberg 2

Not dressed, must be a minor injury.

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 05:12 PM
8-1 run for Nebraska to start the half.

NDSU with some poor shooting/finishing early and a bunch of turnovers.

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 05:13 PM
NDSU up to 12 turnovers and shooting 34% from the field.

Ouedraogo is grabbing every available offensive board for Nebraska. He's up to 5 and manhandling guys down low.

El_Chapo
11-28-2020, 05:15 PM
37 - 53.

if this is my team, i let them ball out and run,

El_Chapo

Damn, guys get to the rim and can't finish.

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 05:42 PM

I’m sitting here waiting for some else to initiate it this year is all....

And never too early, in fact it’s more warranted in the out of conference beginning of the season. (But brace yourself for “it’s a fast changing, unpredictable year” defenses, or “but we’ll be better in conference play as that’s all that matters” responses)

there might a thread for you somewhere.
i just don't like me lining up my relatives to watch it on national tv and 3/4 of them leaving 10 minutes into the game
im just mad at myself for not understanding how hard it is to win in college basketball without a point guard and not paying my mortgage on these last 2 games

+10 under 140 was easy money for 2nd game

SDbison
11-28-2020, 05:48 PM
So brilliant Richman......have your team run the weave ad nausium when you are down 20 points with 4 minutes left.

Big Bird
11-28-2020, 05:50 PM
Down 23 with two minutes left.

semobison
11-28-2020, 05:51 PM

Yep! With a minute and a half left we have put up 15 points in the 2nd half.

11-28-2020, 05:57 PM
79-57 Nebraska. Nelson got a couple buckets late to make it a little less embarrassing.

This is a bad team right now. Hopefully Carter is the guy at the point and he comes back soon.

semobison

Dave won't do it but give McKinney the point. Yeah, he is a frosh and will struggle at times. Sam is needed elsewhere.

slips
11-28-2020, 06:02 PM
Just too many stupid turnovers, not finishing at the rim, poor shot selection, and not knocking down many open shots. Rebounding is about the only thing the Bison are doing at a decent level right now. Team needs to grow up fast. Flashes of potential is there.

Not only will the wabbits beat the Bison 3 times, but the score differentials could very well be embarrassing; don't forget the Dakota Classic. If they stay healthy and/or covid free, they'll be salty.

El_Chapo
11-29-2020, 01:57 PM
Problem is. we have no sharp shooters.
