Hopefully anyway... if it is Carl taking over at YSU then the MVFC sidelines are going to get even more spicy moving forward.

Would Farley ever leave UNI for a top tier P5 DC? He is a lousy HC but he almost always has a really good D and defensive staff. Probably would be better than Pellini

With his conduct, I am surprised he gets the opportunities he does. No way I would hire him.

Going to miss him.

He hasn’t been the same the last couple of years.
Anger management classes or they adjusted his meds, he has mellowed.
Will Carl be new HC?
And congrats to @FauxPellini on the promotion to the big time twitter world

Me too. Plus he'll make about $2 Million per year.

He used to coach there and may want his recruiting ties in Ohio/MI/PA

If you can’t beat the National Championship team, join one. Maybe he’ll push for putting the Bison on their schedule.

Doubtful. Appears their FCS teams are typically from the Confederacy.

With the added bonus of not living in Youngstown...although Louisiana has its own peculiarities....

I will definitely miss Bo on the sidelines. It was great to have him in the conference. He was always fun to watch.

I agree. Great coach at a good rival school.

Personally, I find it a bit strange that someone from California would mention any other state's peculiarities.

Wow, sounds like Carl Pelini won't even be given a chance to interview.

With Carl out of the picture, Tressel is lining up an impressive list of candidates including James Madison's offensive coordinator and a former NFL offensive coordinator.

And it sounds like they're going with a high school coach. Supposedly the players will be officially informed today, even though everybody already knows because it was leaked a couple days ago.

Tim Tyrrell from Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio. Player and assistant under Tressel back in the 90s.

I should have waited. Now news is breaking that YSU decided to go with Doug Phillips. Supposedly Tyrrell wanted more money to bring in the assistants he wanted so the school took the other guy. But the people saying that are the same ones who were sure it was going to be him, so take it with a grain of salt.

Here's the guy's resume:

COACHING CAREER
YEAR: SCHOOL - POSITION
1991-92: Youngstown State - Graduate Assistant
1997-2000: Springfield Local HS - Head Coach
2001-05: Salem HS - Head Coach
2006: Ohio State - Quality Control (Defense)
2007-08: Bowling Green - DE/Recruiting Coord.
2016: Iowa State - Director of Player Personnel
2017: Cincinnati - Special Teams Coordinator/Tight Ends
2018-: Cincinnati - Running Backs

So they are not allowing the new coach to hire his own staff? What a shit show.

Not exactly what I meant. More like setting a restrictive budget that the guy couldn't work with. (rumor)

But it is a shit show if even half the things are going on that the YSU fan board claim. That is one unhappy group of fans over there, and they're normally the rah-rah guys. One guy is claiming Phillips wasn't even one of the top-3 chosen by the selection committee, but Tressel came in at the end and overrode them.

Who knows what's true and what's not, but this is not an impressive hire on paper. We'll see how it plays out on the field over the next few years.
