Another year, another annual roadtrip to Frisco. Always love reading stories from the road and seeing pictures of the journey. Can’t wait for the Herd migration to begin.

Went to Scruffy’s, Ringo’s and Ginger Man in the shops at Legacy last weekend, of course with the green and yellow on. Every bar already has their NDSU signs up in the entry. Ringo’s flies two NDSU flags year round which I absolutely love and of course I’m sure they’ll be hanging this weekend. Every bouncer and bartender at all three bars had comments about next weekend and how they can’t wait for us to show up. Funny I didn’t see any JMU signs/posters...

Party starts Wednesday and if your getting down later than that you’re missing out! Can’t wait for the rest of Bison Nation to get here. Dry/fly safe all!!

Little town settled by Italian coal miners 100 years ago with several real-deal Italian restaurants. But Pete's allyoucaneat is amazing.

I was lucky enough to attend the last two championship games, but not in the cards this time. My heart aches to be on the road, seeing the stream of green and gold make its way to Texas, and going to tailgating.

I flew in a couple years ago from closer to JMU territory. I had paper tickets from their team allotment that came with pep rally tickets that the original buyer had purchased (wasn’t free entry to their pep fest).

I tried to give the pep fest tickets away for free to the JMU fans in the airport and on the plane. Every single one of them looked at me like I was a KGB member who had infiltrated their sacred bubble. Not a single one would take the free tickets.

Same trip, we were seated adjacent to the section with player's parents (JMU). Jimmy Moreland's dad was a lot of fun. My wife thought I was crazy interacting with JMU folks. Most of the JMU parents and fans were nice. The exceptions seemed to think that somehow Bison fans were the enemy. It's just a game...

We will be back in Frisco on Friday mid-day. It is only about 4.5 hours to Frisco from the house in Oklahoma.

We feel strong about our cannonball run record the first year - left Moorhead at 6:00 AM and arrived at our Lewisville hotel at 9:00 PM with 7 people in a brand spanking honda new minivan. Only ticket was recorded in Sewer City, Iowa by a camera, 79 in a 55. We will never forget that first trip!!!

It’s been a stressful couple of hours here in usually tranquil Greenfield.

I am scheduled to depart at 8:00 tomorrow morning for DFW from MSP. I have been trying to be proactive and rather than packing at 4:00 tomorrow morning I started throwing some stuff together back around 3:00 today. Imagine my horror when I was unable to locate the most important article - my spare liver.

After much machination and desperate searching it was located in the basement freezer. Damn Blues festivals.

In any case it is packed up, the transplant team is on standby at Frisco General and the crisis has been averted. Carry on Bison Nation.

In 2011 we had 3 couples in our minivan. Left Fargo at 4:30pm Thursday, hit Frisco at 11am Friday. Immediately started drinking ( or continued for some) at Lazaranda's near the Alumni hotel. That was before we found the short cut through Nebraska city.

Get the beef rib. I tried their tamales and the Fried rib today. You dont want to go there. Pulled pork meh. Pork ribs are good . Brisket was dry today. Sausage was good.

I had my reservation cancelled after the deadline, by calling the hotel they waived the cost and cancelled due to weather. I'm also in Topeka after seeing several bad accidents on I-335

Took off at 11am yeaterday and got home around 5:30 this am. All was great until Ames Iowa when roads started to ice up. The slow down cost us 2 more hours
of drive time. The cities was crazy. When we got there they had done nothing to 494 or the on and off ramps.

Flew back to MSP last night, got back around 9:30 or so. It took 45 minutes to get an Uber and another 40 minutes to get home in the south metro (normally 20 min or so) with the traffic and crap roads.

Ice damage limits the amount of flyovers and elevated sections that make interchanges more efficient that we can do without spending a fortune on their maintenance. So we're stuck with cloverleafs everywhere. Snow removal would cost more, too, since you can't just plow it into the ditch.
Freeze-thaw in general sucks up a lot of maintenance dollars that could otherwise be spent on improvements.

Toll road revenue is usually negligible. Texas is something like 3% of the spending on roads. MNPass tolls are mostly about traffic management, not revenue. It just about breaks even after paying back capital and ongoing operations. (Not to derail this thread more, but I have no problem with a govt service breaking even)
