Howard will likely score 30+, he's just that good. The key will be us continuing to score on offense and limiting the rest of their team outside of Howard and not giving up 2nd chance points. Play tough D, rebound well and continue to work the ball inside out on offense and we stand a chance. The nice part is they don't run a dominant big man offense so matchup wise we actually square up fairly well. The difference is they have a guy that should be in the NBA on their team and we do not.

Normally you can try and play off the big time athletes, try and stop the driveanddish and hope they aren’t hitting from outside. Marquette hitting over 42% from 3 land as a team - yikes! Perimeter D will be interesting to watch.

Marquette, just like Wisconsin, is doing a good job recruiting Minnesota with 2 of their starters from there - 6’ 9” Theo John (Champlin Park) and 6’ 5” Sacar Anim (DeLasalle). They also signed Top 50 recruit Dawson Garcia recently - 6’ 10” 220 Prior Lake MN - winning a recruiting battle with Minnesota, among 20+ offers.

NBADraft.Net projects Markus Howard as an early 2nd round pick and he could have been a 2nd rounder last summer as well. At 5’ 11” 180 he sounds like a good instant offense guy off the bench in the NBA, especially hitting on 47% of his college 3’s this year.
A preseason 1st Team AA, he is scoring 25 ppg so far this season, 2.8 rpg and 2.9 apg. He does have a 1-1 assist/turnover ratio (not good for a pg, 2:1 desirable) so hopefully Vinnie & Co can force a few along the way.
6’ 4” Koby McEwen actually leads the team in assists at 3.5, but has had trouble shooting - 32% overall, 35% on 3’s.

I'd guess we'll see Tyson Ward matched up with him tonight. That's why they did against CSU-Northridge's little guard who was averaging 17+ ppg I believe and Tyson's length bothered him. This is obviously a much tougher assignment but if they can make him earn his points (i.e. shoot it 25 times to score 25 points) they'll give themselves a shot.

I like the way u think CAS--------old school-------get juco witz out there setting 2-3 hard screens per possession and put some people on there ass! Ward also as a tendency to pick up dumb fouls and take himself out of the game with foul trouble. If that happens then it's probably Samuelson on Howard.... hold onto your butts if that happens.

Zone typically isn't the answer for a team that's shooting the 3 like they are. Zone works better if it was a big guy or guys that can really get to the rim that we needed to stop. I think we try Tyson on Howard and if it doesn't work Cam or Vinnie will have to deal with him. Can't stop him, just have to hope to contain him.

Definitely a volume guy, have to hope he doesn't get hot. As mentioned earlier he also can be a little turnover prone so forcing him to get rid of the ball will help

Disappointing finish but for the game the Bison put up 40+ shots from inside the arc and only 25 from outside of it so they did a nice job attacking the paint. Just got out-athleted by Marquette's defense. If they play this same game against K-State they win. On to the conference season... for as inconsistent as their OOC performance was it looks like the Bison are positioned to win the league with how USD and Omaha have faded recently.

Watched this game intently from start to finish. Eady needs to shoot the damn ball, passed up two easy layups to make an extra pass that ended up being a turnover. Cam made some bonehead plays with the ball but also made some great plays, just need a little more consistency. I don't think I've seen Rocky play that aggressive ever, he put the ball on the floor a few times and just took his man to the hole, hope he keeps that up! Tyson played like a man possessed, Knotek played really well when he was on the floor but got in foul trouble on a couple of BS calls. The uneven calls by the refs was frustrating as hell, we were getting hammered on our end of the floor and not getting anything called and on the other end we were getting called for some ticky tack bullshit. Refs bailed them out quite a bit in this game, glad we stayed aggressive to the basket, we get some of those calls to get to the line 6-10 more times it's a different ballgame.

All in all I really liked the effort, we played aggressive, took the ball inside and didn't rely on the 3, just a lot of hustle being down a couple guys it was great to see. As I mentioned to a few of my buddies, the good news is nobody in the Summit has a Markus Howard so if we continue to play like this we will have a great conference season. If we would've played like this all season this would've been our first loss. Howard won this game for them, he's a beast.
