Hope the return game buyout is steep.

Agreed, But these are some early games that should be scheduled with other quality FCS schools. I know Towson has been down for a few years but they are better than other school we have paid to come in.

Should have lots of options - fly into BWI if you fly Southwest or Reagan in Wash DC and rent a car. Lots to see and do in Baltimore and/or Washington DC, and even more hotel rooms.

Heck, you could fly into Philly and drive down just as easily as well.

This is the route JMU is taking (schedule Weber State and Monmouth recently) and I think it is the way to go for NDSU. If you are having trouble getting FBS teams to agree to play you, go after some higher level FCS (although I think NDSU has been finding it way more challenging than any other FCS school). Hopefully they can soon do even better than Towson.

On Bison 1660 this morning, JJ said he and the rest of the staff in charge of scheduling opponents were close to getting a FBS team to an agreement, but couldn't quite get it done.

Pretty hard to get teams to play that are looking for a guaranteed victory.

With that said, looking forward to these match-ups!

Yeah, I'm sure it's tough especially when plenty of FCS schools are playing two FBS games and almost every FBS school will only play one FCS game at most. It's a buyer's market.

Getting home/home deals with some different FCS schools isn't a bad consolation though. I'd really like to see them get a deal with an Ivy League team (which is probably similar difficulty to getting an FBS game but for different reasons) or with someone like Jacksonville St (who you'd think would be receptive).

Meh. Towson's record since we met them in Frisco:

2014: 4-8
2015: 7-5
2016: 4-7
2017: 5-6
2018: 7-5
2019: 7-5

I know that our options are limited but I'm not excited by going to the Baltimore area to curb stomp them. At least I have family in the area.

2021 will be an interesting year, schedule wise:

1. Albany appears to be improving with a young QB. I think this game could be the best game in the Fargodome (until the playoffs).
2. Towson just missed out on the playoffs this year, and in 2021, the game against NDSU may be their first home game of the season with the potential of a quality team.
3. NDSU will go a long time between home games (Valpo on September 11, and then not until Northern Iowa on Oct 9) - almost a full calendar month.
4. NDSU ends with 2 or 3 on the road, including @ SDSU and @ Youngstown, both in November.

These are just some quick observations.

I would think that we should be able to schedule a service academy. They are usually more about the wider exposure than they are about strictly wins/losses. (Plus my brother lives just across the Hudson from West Point. Would LOVE to see that happen!)

Off topic a bit, but I wouldn't mind a game with Maine. Make up for the 2001 game we missed due to 9/11. Actually it would have been a neat tribute to have it on the schedule instead of Valpo. It could have been a makeup event on the 20th anniversary of the hijacking.

As I was just looking up the information on that game... Maine was scheduled to come to Fargo? Weren't we still a D2 program at that time?

A western public school with a top notch team getting a home and home with an Ivy team is essentially impossible. They barely move off the east coast to start with, and public schools are even rarer. Which is a bummer, I'd like to see NDSU play every FCS team at least once.

The only teams I've seen them play out West are San Diego and Cal Poly, with Cal Poly being the only public school out West they'll schedule. Otherwise, it's mostly Eastern schools in the Pioneer, Northeast CAA and Patriot League.

Yep! Had some in Pittsburgh on the way out east, but I think they'll be better in Maryland...at least that's what I've heard anyway. We did stop at a little place right after the game called the Fisherman's Crab Deck (at least I think that's what it was called) in Chesapeake Bay per recommendations from Tatanka. We didn't get cakes there but we split 10 crabs, smashed them with wooden mallets and everything, pretty cool experience.

The experience was great, no arguing that. But I think I would order something different as I'm a fast eater and the amount of time it takes to get that little bit of meat out of those legs just wasn't for me. I would maybe try some lobster or some fish the next time. As far as the location it was a really cool spot, beautiful scenery and a great place to celebrate a solid road win by the herd.

You are just relentless and never happy with anything.
1) We don’t play one every year because we can’t find teams to play us every year.
2) We can’t play 2 a year because we can barely find a team to play us every other year.
3) The anti FBS aren’t the ones not letting us move up.

Inner Harbor is nice. There's stuff to see and do there, night life, just up the way in Fells Point. Hotels at all price points. Casino. Camden Yards. Babe Ruth museum. Fort McHenry is a water taxi away. Aquarium is legit great.

DC is close. Don't need to elaborate on that.

Annapolis would make a great day trip. Naval Academy. Former National Capital so the state house is an interesting tour. Home to General Washington's resignation speech, one of the most important documents in our history. Nicely preserved historical city center.
