This one aint going to be pretty. Stat stuffer game with lots of backups and true freshman playing the 2nd half. Good to be tailgating again. Attendance is going to suck.

Watched WIU's last five games in chronological order this week. They're not without talent (Clint Ratkovich and Max Norris are fun to watch), but definitely lack a lot of discipline (expect them to come out like a bunch a of hyperactive kids on a sugar rush for the first half and be spent the second half). I don't think the high-tempo offense (the ball gets snapped with 12 seconds of being set by the officials) on first and second down helps them, and forces their defense to be on the field longer than they need to be in order for this team to be successful. They are a team full of chaos and lack efficiency. For example, they'll run 20-30 yards East to West on many of their jet-sweep type plays just to gain two.

For a team that put guys like Bryan Cox, Rodney Harrison, Don Beebe, and now Khalen Saunders (dude looks huge for the Chiefs) in the NFL, and even had the great Darrell Mudra as a coach at one time, this program deserves better. However, that will not be happening today!!! I see NDSU winning 54-6, but I'm hoping for a Bison shut-out.

Stay Hungry, Stay Humble!!!

Unfortunately, the attendance might be the lowest all year due to 1 - deer opener and 2 - lackluster opposition. I fully expect to be be complaining about a lack of energy from the crowd by end of 1st quarter.

The highlight of our day might be finding the mini donuts before the game. We were running late for our first game in the Fargodome this year and didn't have time to see if they moved somewhere else. That was the first time we had to park on the other side of the SHAC.

I get the approach of keeping the defense honest and making them prepare for a 2pt conversion, but wouldn’t it make more sense to line up like you’re kicking a XP and THEN go for 2?!?

Lining up like you’re going for 2 and then kicking doesn’t exactly seem to throw off defenders cuz they are now prepared to defend vs block a kick. Weird approach if you ask me.

How does a ball bounce in the air when a guy is laying on the ground if he has control? The 10 fans left in the fargodome are ready to storm the field. These refs need to look themselves in the mirror.

It never touched the ground. It went into his arms, bounced around without touching the ground, bounced out, hit his hands to deflect into the air without touching the ground, then he caught it and secured it still without it touching the ground. It was a wild catch, but legit.

No way. The rear camera view showed the ball never touched the ground when it went into his body, and the pressbox camera showed the ball didn't touch when it came back out. To not overturn it would have been the bad call. Just accept it was a great catch.

What happened to letting the play clock run down? Since Brock we would snap the ball at the last second once the game was out of hand. As much as we had the ball yestetday and snapped it early the team probably had a whole extra drive or two. Are we doing it for more reps?

Frankly the offense needed improvement during the middle part of the season. If that is the reason, good for them for taking advantage of the opportunity.

They've been doing that all season basically. I remembered being frustrated by it in the UC Davis game because they needed to be in a 4 minute offense running clock and they were snapping it with a running game clock with 10+ seconds left on the play clock. It didn't end up hurting them that game but you never know when those few extra seconds ran off are the difference in about 4 or 5 extra plays at the end of the game.

I'm guessing Roehl doesn't emphasize it as much as previous OCs have. Maybe having a freshman under center plays into that some as well.

I wouldn’t assume Roehl or Entz have even thought of this. Not dissing them, just saying that it’s been a long time since we’ve actually done this consistently when ahead by plenty.

Yeah, that's certainly possible. It seems like clock management is one of the toughest things for new coaches to get accustomed to. I don't know if Klieman ever really got a good handle on it at the end of halves during his time here.
