Goophers get their doors blown off. They haven't played anyone (besides SDSU). Buuuut, when you look at their scores so far this year, they appear to be getting better. They squeaked by their first four opponents (SDSU, Fresno, Georgia Southern, and Purdue), and then blew out the next four (Illinois, Nebraska, Rutgers, & Maryland).


And they have had a bye week to prep for the lions. So maybe they do keep it close on ABC.


I don't really know, Minnesota, like their professional sports team is a Jeckle and Hyde team that chokes at the worst time. Either they keep it close, lose or win. Or they get destroyed. I don't see any middle ground.

Gophers have always done pretty well outside (Mich, Ohio State, Iowa , Wisconsin) Cant wait for this game.

Because if Fleck pulls off the improbable and wins against Penn STate and say Wi OR Iowa and gets in the big 10 championship. They at least get paid $10 mil by whoever would want to snipe him. That has to be the only + side benefit for MN that I can see. If it was just a sales ploy and Fleck actually intends staying around "long-term" then good for him, and seems he has Minnesota at least still heading in the right direction so MN still somewhat wins there.

I think I'd still waited until later though... but I'm not a P5 AD either for a good reason...

I'm expecting a MN win on Saturday. Penn State needs to come out fast if they expect to win. Ole MO will be wearing Maroon (or Yellow, or White, or Anthracite, or Black, or whatever the color of the week is). If the Gopher are in it through 1st Quarter, they win by 1-2 TDs.

It’s becoming more and more obvious to me that the gap between NDSU and the top 25 in fbs is not that wide. Gophs could have easily lost to Jacks. In fact I’d say SDSU gave that game away. Pretty simple. He was the 10th highest paid coach in the big 10. They have won 12 of 14 actually, spanking a one time highly ranked gopher team in Madison. Although the big ten west might be down, they are still pounding them versus close out of conference games.

And this is the second school that PJ has had success.

If you look at the contract, it is really a $1 million pay raise for next year (and forward) couple of extra years and a million more per year for the assistants (nice move). But in many regards its a one year deal and we do it all again. $10 million buyout next year, drops to $4.2 million year after. So end of 2020 we will have the same conversation again with his new extension.
