This is off topic but below is a story about Hannah Stewart, a Minot Ryan alum, who plays for Iowa tonight against Baylor. She has started in all of the games this year. Hannah's mother, Julie, coached her at Minot Ryan, in basketball and softball, and her father, Pete, was the head coach of men's basketball at Minot State University for awhile.

Just for future reference, there is a basketball forum that would probably be a better spot to post this. That way threads stay on topic.

There is also a forum for news about other schools.

She's a really great athlete. I remember her being a dominant force during the B her senior year. Also had chance to see her play softball against my wife's cousin that summer, she was good at that too.

Hannah Stewart's uncle, John Stewart, played high school basketball in Parshall, ND with Randy Hedberg, the quarterback coach for NDSU. Randy graduated in 1973 and John in 1974.

Yes she was. Their team just couldn't beat West Fargo. Hannah was also a real good volleyball player.

Yep they had some really good teams then with Hedberg, John Hauge and J Stewart and others. Her grandad was the dentist in Parshall, my mom worked for him.

Pete and John's brother, Dave, was a lead solo pilot for the Navy's Blue Angels. I saw them perform in Minot. Interestingly, one of the other pilots was also from Parshall, but I don't recall his name. Maybe you recognize it from the list below.

I remember hearing another guy from Parshall was on the Angels but I don't think it was at the same time.....could be wrong though.

Wasn't it ancestor(s) of another pilot or something I think it was from Parshall. The pilot himself never lived there? Want to say that was late 90s early 2000s?? But maybe I am just recalling all the hoopla around Dave.

I met a guy while working at the Indy 500 last year who is a retired Thunderbird pilot. He's probably only in his late 30s or early 40s. His dad was from Makoti but he grew up in the Rapid City area. They still had strong ties to the area though.

It was the same time. There was a story about it in the Minot Daily News. It said they did not know each other when they were growing up.
