Hotchkiss not doing anything much this year. Lance looks like a good speed. Run for TD!!! This year 2 games with 82 yards rushing. We not sure about throwing for both players.

Without any time in the program, he would have to be great. When was the last time NDSU started a true freshman at QB? TAB tells me I can't answer my own questions.

Can only be one starter. You have to know the landscape at NDSU when you come. You can be Cole Davis, Esley Thorton, James Hendricks, or Derek McGinnis.

I'll bet the first 3 had a better time than the last.

I don't think that's fair to McGinnis. Not like he was going to be the backup, he'd have been down the depth chart and he might not have had the athleticism to switch to defense. I get we all love the stories of guys sticking it out with little to no playing time, but some kids just want to play the game they love and see the field. Nothing wrong with transferring to a smaller school to see the field and have some fun. Also nothing wrong with sticking it out at NDSU on the sidelines.

Correct, but not at the beginning of the season. His HOF bio says he started "early" in his Freshman year. The 1983 roster shows Bentrim played in 8 games and Dale Hammerschmidt in 2.

My dream scenario:
Holden Hotchiss adds about 15 lbs lean muscle and becomes the most accurate passer in Bison history.
Jeren Lewis comes in and blows the coaching staff away and wins the #2. If they can fix his mechanics, he just might accomplish this.
Trey Lance becomes a WR and terrorizes FCS CB's like Weineke never did.
Seth Wilson converts to the same role Darrius Shepherd played this year and leads the FCS in RAC%.
Christian Watson gets bigger stronger faster and starts catching everything and winning every contested ball thrown his way.
Ty Brooks and Adam Cofield are their electric selves, and Saybein Clark bulks up to 215 and is well on his way to becoming the next David Johnson.

Bison have the greatest offense in their history and average over 60 points a game in 2019; another undefeated season.

The problem with this is that you want your QB to be one of the most talented players. I just don’t see the talent level between Hotchkiss and Lance being all that close.

They will find playmakers at WR....I hope

Not a huge fan of Brady myself but you can't argue the fact that he is a winner. My point was that talent and athleticism don't always add up to who is the best QB....a lot of intangibles go into that equation.

Edit....In answer to above question I can't really answer that cause I didn't get to see either of them play in college enough to make a judgement. I'm guessing your point is that Newton was better in college?

I guess we will have to wait and see in spring ball who can sling it, command the offensive strategy, and be a leader of the offense. Those on the inside probably know who has the lead in those depts but the casual fan does not. But I don’t want to confuse talent with athleticism. I’d much rather have the unathletic Brady. I always felt Cam would be a washout. He has lasted in the NFL much longer than I expected based on his rookie crybaby interviews.

Along with that comes trust. Trust they will be in the right spot on their route and will catch the ball. With the talent we have that should not be a problem but could easily have some growing pains until it is down.
