Three 2000 yard runners

I just noticed that Easton Stick went over 2000 career rushing yards last Saturday (he's at 2005). Bruce went over that mark in week 1 (now at 2294) and Lance Dunn went over it last year (now at 2361). That's three 2000 yard rushers on the same team. Has that ever happened before at NDSU (even in the veer options days)?

My best guess is no.

1983-1986: Bentrim, 2945--Stark, 2837--Molstre, 1,882.

1987-1990: Simdorn, 3,313--Satter, 3212--Sieh, 1,668.

Bentrim and Stark were on the same team as Doug Lloyd. But Lloyd hadn't rushed for 2000 yet. :)

Fair enough... I guess I should've specified three current 2000 yard career rushers. :)

Kinda tough in those mid-late 80s teams to get a 3rd guy in there with all the yards those big 4 ran for. Although both Bruce and Lance have realistic shots to get to 3000 yards by the end of this season if they stay healthy. Add Ty Brooks in there when they go delta formation and that's almost 7500 career rushing yards in the backfield at once between those 4 guys (with as many as 11 more games for each to play still this year).

Lloyd had 641 with Bentrim and Stark and 1,778 with Simdorn and Satter.

It would take a lot of timing and luck just to get a chance to carry the ball enough times at NDSU when so many have to share carries. Look at defense as well; Chris Board didn't touch the field a whole lot and he is playing for the Ravens!!!

Back then, they didn't count postseason games in the statistics.

James Molstre had 600+ yards in playoff games. Sieh had at least 395 yards in postseason games.Those two trios all had at least 2000 yards rushing in their career even if the official stats didn't count the playoff yardage.

Back then, though, the ground game was 80% of the offense which makes Stick-Dunn-Anderson's accomplishment that much more amazing.

I think you would have three 2000 yard on the same team back in the 80's, with Bentrim/Stark/Molstre and Simdorn/Satter/Sieh if they counted they're playoff stats like they do today.
