Welcome to Eli Mostaert!

As the 247 link shows, there wasn’t mention of a scholly offer to Eli, only the offer to Will.
Is Eli scholly, just keeping a low profile, or is he a PWO?
Had offers from Air Force, South Dakota, Northern Iowa, Western Illinois.

Wonder if there has ever been a scientific study of identical twin brothers playing football? (half amusing thought half serious) Same genes, same upbringing, so will they perform roughly the same? :)

The Tuszka brothers were a different size and the 2 inch taller Tuszka was the better player.

But these guys are exactly the same height. It will come down to effort and technique with a similar upside

The Panthers dominated up front, particularly on defense. Will Mostaert, his twin brother, Eli, and Landon Carter lived in Eden Prairie’s backfield for much of the night, stuffing the Eagles’ running game and disrupting the rhythm of Kramer, a Gophers commit. Eden Prairie barely cracked 200 yards of total offense.

I'm of the mindset it was on the fringe of unnecessary to have him in the game but ultimately I am ok with it. Run game and up the middle needs reps. The game was won but very common to have early season blowouts where you keep starters in for part of the third.

Just sucks.

1. The coaches didn't make the decision to break his fibula.....god forbid, they let a football player play football and an injury happened.
2. The Arizona game should and does mean nothing outside the week that it is played.

Bisonator98
09-13-2022, 02:56 PM
I'd guess he misses at least 8 weeks. 6 weeks to heal and 2 weeks or more to rehab. You lose a lot of strength in a leg when it's immobilized.

Rixen
09-13-2022, 03:59 PM
The 12th week from injury would be the second week of playoffs, the first for those teams with a bye (hopefully us). I personally would guess that would be the soonest we see him this year. If progress is looking good you sit and rehab him as long as you realistically can.

If we pulled all starters at half they would be going into Arizona without a full game under their belts. Losing Eli is a heartbreaker but it's absolutely not the coaches' fault. Next man up, defense will rally.

Arizona lost one of their interior guys earlier this season too. They're going to need him a lot more than we'll need Eli for this one...

Words mean things, try to remember that....the coaches are responsible for who is on the field, yes, but it's not their fault an injury happened. Earlier you said it was their decision to ruin Eli's season......which is fucking ridiculous. But also, par for the course with you.

FBS wins may have moved the needle nationally before, but they are have less of an impact now....it's more the rule than the exception. Those games should certainly not be the sole focus of the coaches and players going into a season, and Entz said as much in his presser.

Lakes, should be sit our starters after the 1st half of the Arizona game so that they are rested for the Coyotes the next week? Starters can get hurt in practice, should we not have them practice before UNI? A starter could step off a curb and tear his quad tendon walking to class, should we have starters home schooled? Or should we just let these kids fucking play football and win another national championship? You really don't know shit about football.

To the typical football fan who has no NDSU allegiance, our wins against FBS opponents are far more impressive than FCS National Championships. Depending on the location and severity of the break, the fib isn't that big a deal. I'm a little worried because it looked like they were applying the air splints near the ankle. That area is more delicate and could lead to a longer recovery time versus a mid-bone break. (This happens to be an area I'm a little more experienced in than most since I don't have either fibula anymore and I have no mobility problems.) If they decide to fix it with surgery, then the longest wait would be for the surgical incision to heal. When they removed mine, I was walking normally the next day without any structural reinforcement at all.

edit: I see that Entz is saying 10 weeks, so I'm guessing they're not doing surgery. I wonder if the break was right at the base of the fibula near the ankle.

Yep. If it’s a simple fibula break he could be back in 7-8 weeks. If there was an ankle injury with the fibula break, damaging ligaments and tendons then it could be much longer, surgery or not.
