View Full Version : Who did NDSU play where the other teams fans got out of control

either in D2 or FCS

For GSU it was App. State.
Background - GSU ran of 4 straight victories against App. including knocking App out of the quarter finals.

STORY - In 2003 App. State beat the Eagles 21 - 28.

After a regular season game App. State students tore down their own goalpost and then walked it around their stadium.
*** They then walked out of their stadium, with the goalpost, went to the GSUs players bus and rammed the post threw the windows.
The pizzas were set up on the tables, near the bus, for the players to pick up. The App crowd then knocked over the tables and stomped on the pizzas.

Funny now but not in 2003. The next year in 2004, GSU had its revenge by beating App. in Statesboro ( GSU 54 - App 7) Extra security at that game.

You guys got a better one?

at Montana State. 2010 playoff run.

We took over their hometown bar (Crystal Bar) in Bozeman that night and the locals DID NOT APPRECIATE IT!!

But we didn't care, we didn't move and the Bar owner told me he made more money with us than any other gameday night...

2nd place. Northern Iowa when they broke our 33 game winning streak, they rushed the field and every bar we went to that night in Cedar Falls they acted like they won the national title (oh wait, they've NEVER done that, so maybe this was their biggest win ever)

We beat Youngstown a few years back...took the lead in the final minute or minutes of the game and the officials had to be escorted out of the stadium by security for safety reasons. I do not believe any pizza was harmed, though.

When NDSU beat the Hawkeyes someone threw their drink on my wife and 8 year old. It came from several rows up. At the Cyclone game the fans were swearing down at us like crazy in the first quarter. In Brookings they openly yelled swear words at us as we walked around before the game. They were also cheering for the Jackrabbits which is disgusting.

Montana had some people who were dicks but in all fairness, the amount of good people far outnumbered the bad apples. Youngstown has some dicks who threw food at our players. South Dakota State, someone threw a full beer at us but they threw like a girl and missed. Also some over the top trash talk. Then they were so sick of losing and watching us win National Championships, they had a donor buy all the tickets so we couldn't go to the game and then acted like they didn't, even though there were empty seats everywhere.

Our student section use to be "very bad" when our stadium was smaller. The students sat behind the visiting team. GSU even blocked off the area behind the visiting teams bench.
The students now sit further away the visitors and there is more security in that section. I was embarrassed with the drunk frat boys.

At the Jacks game in Brookings in 2015, a group of us were scattered in a couple sections. At halftime whem 90% of the student section left because it was 21-0 and Wentz and the Bison offense were pretty much doing whatever they wanted; we decided to all sit together at the top row of the student section. 4 students were really pissed I guess that we were in their student section. Lots of fun jabs about how all their fellow students left and how they were likely in junior high the last time the Jacks beat the Bison. After a 27 yard yard Wentz td run, they were pretty quiet and left a short while later. Nothing too hostile, just Bunny fans being Bunny fans.

KSU: Walking to stadium for game (about a mile from where our tailgate lot was) and had shit ton of KSU fans giving me and brother D2 shit and one right in my face. I said to him, “how about a D2 fist bump”? He bit and I hit him pretty hard with right hand full of Natty rings (that he hadn’t seen)—“some” blood flow from his knuckles after. He STFU quickly.

Kansas State was probably my favorite bison game of all time. Iowa felt it slipping away, Iowa St and MN got trucked, but K State fans were in full denial that that they were the far superior team. That final drive was exhibit A of bison pride, and some well deserved humble pie in Manhattan. No complaints on the treatment at K State, but it was pretty frosty after the W.

This jolts a memory from that game out in Missoula, a hammered dude wouldn't leave my Dad and I alone being a total asshole just constantly flipping us off and getting in our face. I got pretty heated if I remember and then just started ignoring him and finally went and got security.

It was NE Missouri State and they only stood and cheered once for two reasons. One, the aforementioned snowballs and two we piss pounded them. I think I had a final close to kickoff that I completed in record time.

No matter the age or sex all *CRAZED up sober or drunk should be escorted out of the stadium & off school property.

I put myself in that situation. I bought 4 tickets with the intention of selling 2 of them to pay for my trip. My buddy backed out and I sold 3. I literally put myself in the middle of Montana fans thinking it couldn't be that bad. I never had to many run in with other fans inside or outside of a stadium. I remember the 2 times GSU played U South Florida. They were very good defensively against our
Spread Triple Option and they were both close games , but USF lost both of them.

I had a detective friend fly down from New York and his team played at USF. I wore my GSU stuff and the USF fans in back of me would hit me with ice from time to time.
After the game a USF fan came down the stands and started cursing at me and telling me what a joke GSU was as a team. I fired back at him with a few choice words of my own.
After a few minutes I saw I was being a dumb @ss myself and walked off with him yelling profanity at me.

The one i remember most was 79 or 80. Cold as hell UND Game. Some F'Hawker had let his beer set out and it froze. Walking to the game in GF, he said who wants a beer...of course we were young and always looking for beer...so we said sure. He fires one at the lead guy in our group and it smacks him in the head and knocks him to the ground. Meanwhile about 5 of us chased the bastard down and pantsed him on the front yard of his apartment building. No concussion, no stitches, just a really bad headache.

First year at TCF Bank Stadium against the Gophers. I actually like the Gophers, grew up a fan, it isn't a rivalry...but anyway....14 guys, all front row, we had prime seats. Guy RIGHT BEHIND ME....and our group wasn't short on size or courage was just wearing us out. We are literally talking to eachother...now guys, don't turn around, let him be....etc. THis guy is JUST DESTROYING US. Like....did you all fit in one tractor? Can other cars pass you while you guys ride in on your tractor? It went on and on. Finally....I am about ready to think jail is worth it....we score again. This clown was SUCH A D BAG...was not big, and had the largest gap in his teeth you could imagine. I mean Strahan and KFGO would be proud of this gap. I finally lose it....I turn around....I start going nuts on him (verbally). I said...we are driving our John Deere right through the gap in your teeth. I absolutely went after him, like he did to us. The guy immediately starts to try to hide...then starts to run up the stairs leaving...Gopher fans start cheering us on for getting him to leave. We all high five the clown being gone and everyone got along great. Still amazed not one of our guys punched that guy. THat was all the patience you could dig up.

My kid lives in Sioux Falls, but is an avid Bison fan. He tried to buy some of those tics that SDSU bought out, but as soon as they found out he was a Bison guy they wouldn't even sell them to him. They would rather the seats were empty. Now I can understand protecting fans that want to go, but leaving seats empty?? That shows no class.

Leaving Metrodome in 2007 after 1st Gopher win we must have went out the same door as the Gopher student section. Pretty salty kids with the “you still have to go back to North Dakota comments” and decent number of straight up F U’s.

We had great seats in 06, and 07 the more seasoned fans in our sections were very cool and complementary.

BTW just checked the gopher 06 schedule- they weren’t as bad as some would have you believe that year.

The date was OCT. 1988. Florida State scheduled GSC under Erk
The papers had us at 37 point underdog. We led FSU 10 - 7 two minutes into the 4th. FSU kept rotating receivers into the game & they were deep. In the end FSU dropped 21 points on us in last 13 minutes of the game.

Anyway after the game I walked by a group of female FSU cheerleaders and they said " thats the stud GSC fan that we saw from the sidelines. They ran at me and took me down. Some of them took advantage of me. I didn't report it to the police. I figured that they were pumped full of estrogen from the near loss, saw a GSC stud and took it out on me! ;-)

KSU Game. Almost all of my interactions before the game with the fans were pleasant and cordial. Fans were friendly and talkative when we were walking into the game through their tailgate sections. Was even given a couple of free beers.

During the game...not so much. A man with two small children was throwing expletives around like it was is job, and trying to taunt us into shouting matches. As we all know, we got the last laugh.

The real turds were out at the bars that night. I was wearing the big stuffed Bison hat that I always wear, and I had it yanked off several times by some salty losers. I even had a guy start pushing me when I was in line to get another beer, obviously trying to start a fight, but then a KSU fan interjected and got the young man tossed out of the establishment. He then bought me and my group a round of beers in apology for his fellow fans.

In my experience, the good fans will always outweigh the bad ones. Unless you cheer for the Funnies.

My best story which is not nasty but pretty sweet. I was with my two daughters and a friend, 18, 18, 15, riding the hawkeye train. Rode in with a hawkeye dad and his 13 year old son. We started talking and it was all cordial but the boy was certain the hawkeys were going to crush us. We all said wait for it and they gave us a bunch of cookies from the tailgate stash they had. Game played. Got back on train. Well there they were. Boy was crushed. Shocked. We were very kind to him but he could not believe what happened.

I figured that they were pumped full of estrogen from the near loss, saw a GSC stud and took it out on me! ;-)

***I know that many of you NDSU fans found yourself in the same situation so I don't mind telling you!!!!!

In Minneapolis, after the 2011 Gopher game. Was with a group celebrating the win, after the game around 9pm walking in the Nicolette Mall area. I got bumped from the back, turned to see to guys, dressed as women (hookers?), running past me. They were being pursued by a cop on a horse. I've not seen that, before or since. I can't say if any of them were Gopher fans.

Huh? A guy hits your friend in the head with a frozen beer . . . and you "pants" him?

"Pantsed" is to throw off the cops. There is no statute of limitations in ND for murder.

Please note Cy that Toto's friend was found with no concussion and no stitches used. Toto's 5 Bison friends most likely had a few themselves, "or not."

When you have 6 Bison fans chasing down a drunk idiot that clowned your friend with a iced beer things can get out of hand. Often times the retribution involves the mob & inflicts more damage than they should.

I'm not saying after the pantsing "one" good kick to the ribs wouldn't be out of line. Still 6 mad fans on one dick could have gotten out of control and more injury to the punk would have been inflicted than necessary! So I think Toto and his buds showed great restraint with the exception of not giving the punk a rib kick.

We were pretty lit ourselves...beating the crap out of him just seemed like a good way to make the acquaintance of the GFPD....good thing we did have couple of older, wiser types.

It was funny tho.

Montana State - 2010. My nephew (11) and I drove out there for the game, it was a blast until.... DJ scored a TD in the north endzone, I was watching the game closely and turned back to high five my nephew and saw him with his hands over his right eye/face. A college student (18-19) or so cold cocked him in the face as he ran up the stairs, my nephew was sitting in the isle seat. An older couple (Montana State Fans), spotted him and the police arrested him. His parents tried to make the case with the police that he was mentally handicap and didn't know any better and gave me the evil eye walking out - I am sure bitter over the loss and that their son was arrested.

Nephew was fine, just embarrassed - we had a great overall time, it was nice to see the older couple from Montana State do the right thing and point him out.

I was assaulted at a NDSU game this year in the tailgate lot. Those people held me against my will and forced me to drink their alcohol and eat their food. I wanted to call the police as I gained 3 pounds and became slightly sociable after 3-4 drinks.

Someone on this board got dicked by a cheeseburger in the tailgate lot at KSU. The board member deserved it though.....
False, that attack was unprovoked and undeserved. The KState guy that threw that greasy cheeseburger: 1) threw like a girl 2) was trying to start shit because he knew he had his frat-bro crew to back him up (which they did) and 3) I slept with his mom after the win later that evening.

I can understand your plight. I to was was forced to eat BBQed Georgia road kill and drink many adult beverages by my own chums. The more I drank the better the the possum, coon @ armadillo tasted.

Did you know that dillo, slow smoked, is very tender? Smoked on its back you can take it off the grill & dig in right from its shell, dipped in butter of course. A dillo is like a S.E Georgia lobster. You know the shell & all!

How could you wear that thing in 103 heat?

How could you wear that thing in 103 heat?

I wear it for every game. The first game I ever wore it at was the 1st Natty down in Frisco. The first game that I didn't wear it was JMU in '16. I was at a work Christmas party at a fancy local Brewery, and my girlfriend at the time wouldn't let me wear it, or any Bison gear. I caved to her demands. We lost. It was a terrible mistake. One that I will never make again.

Needless to say, I 'overreacted' that me not wearing my hat cost us the game, and it just never worked out between me and the ex-GF. I would like to think that I have my priorities straight.

We were walking in to the K-State game through their tailgate. Assholes were yelling go home d2, we’re going to beat you by 90. Punk college kid gets in my face and yells we’re going to beat the shit out of you, your quarterback won’t last the first possession! I said our backup qb is going pro so you better pray our starter stays in.

I'm surprised by the K-State stories. I had nothing but positive interaction with their fans, before and after the game.

Driving thru Kansas to watch my youngest son play baseball in Wichita this end of Feb when a car with Kansas plates pulls along side to pass but slows down seeing me wearing a Bison hat. The passenger window comes down and I get the middle finger and they sped off. They still remember us in Kansas! It was awesome!!

Iowa game, fans were respectable and complimentary for the most part. Before the game, surrounded by Hawkeye fans, my 8 year old daughter was talking loudly and often (as she typically does) about how she thinks it'll be a close game but Bison should be able to win. 40 year-old guy in row behind us says loudly "keep thinking that sister", and people around us all laugh. Fast forward to after the end of the game, as many of them were sitting there dejectedly, she walks over to them and says "thats ok, if they didn't count field goals, you guys would've won!"

Nothing out of control, but karma when talking sh*t to a little girl.

2nd Goopher game had some former goo PhD behind us... we were talking trash thru the whole game. When they decided they had seen enough they left. One of the idiots took a huge swing at me and missed and fell down the stairs... we all laughed at him including his buddies.
