I understand why they implemented the early signing period and the benefits it provides, but for me as a casual follower of recruiting I miss the big event that was the February signing day. That being said I liked how ndsu used the late signing day to fill the holes that were left after december signings.

Kolpack’s article on this year’s new signing day schedule:

http://www.inforum.com/sports/4399602-it-was-different-january-north-dakota-state-football-recruiting-trail

Fun fact from the article - 21 of the 23 players who signed with the Bison in December attended NDSU Football Camp last summer.

I like to see what a 6'6" receiver can do for the Bison.

And one who looks to have great hands and is able to adjust to the ball. Not sure how fast he is but he can be that big time receiver you can throw the 50-50 ball to on smaller cbs.

I like to see what a 6'6" receiver can do for the Bison.

Trey Lance (or whoever the next QB is after Easton) will be best friends with him.

Is the CK signing day press conference at 2 pm on any radio or tv?

It could be on Facebook or through a feed from NDSU.

Success comes with cost :). That school up north has its signing day for free, free food, but when you finish last
it goes with the territory. NDSU collects a scholarship in the cost of its signing day tickets.

The press release is out. Seems like the 4 scholly recruits announced will do it for today - no surprise announcements PWO etc.

http://gobison.com/news/2018/2/7/north-dakota-state-adds-four-to-football-signing-class.aspx

So in total 27, 23 scholly players plus 4 previously announced PWO’s.

The cool thing IMO is these guys are from good football schools. Living in the KC area and now down south...these are schools that make deep runs into the playoffs almost every year. Especially Ribault, Bishop Miege and Winter Park. Being a national brand, whether you are the 300 pound gorilla or not...means being a national brand.

Here is an interesting result to national signing day and early signing period which makes me certain that December will become the only signing period for all practical purposes. There was a "3-star" receiver in the Tulsa area (Wagoner, OK) allegedly with adequate school grades and recruited by several D1 FBS schools that did not commit to a program in December. He was waiting for a better offer from an Oklahoma/Texas/Arkansas school that did not materialize. Those rosters were filled as well as other recruitment options and he is now headed to junior college for at least a year. He got greedy and is out of major football conversation for at least a year if not forever.
After this past year, the fear factor is going to get most of these kids signing football offers sooner than later.

That's the danger of having the early signing period. I think it's only going to get more pressure packed for the recruits because they're probably going to move the early signing period up earlier in the year eventually. Klieman has mentioned a few times that he expects (of maybe prefers) it to be moved to August. It seems kind of dumb to have an early signing period only 6 weeks before the late signing period. If you're going to allow early signees then make it "early". So these kids could start feeling that pressure so sign before their senior season of high school even starts.

That said I think the benefits of the early signing period far outweigh the downside of it. Based on his comments in the late signing day presser Klieman doesn't expect the early signing period to go away anytime soon based on his interactions with other coaches at their national coach's conference.
