Not much information him. What's the connection or how did we find him so early? Seems random that he would have been here twice already. He must be a high target of ours or is he REALLY interested in being here?

Talk about a man among boys. His QB skills remind me of Ben Roethlisberger, only a bit more mobile.

I get the feeling that he's more interested than we are. At least from watching his film, I didn't find anything that made him standout. But I'm not a coach or even a former player, so what do I know.

Potentially could be related to Phoenix Sproles? Saw a tweet from Phoenix referencing him.

Another 2019 name NDSU has been connected with is Travis Yohnke from
Parkers Prairie MN, a 6’ 5” 230 TE. Has been on a campus visit and NDSU
was going to be watching his basketball game this week (as was Wyoming).
In addition to offering David Roddy, UNI got their offer in to Yohnke before that game. Yohnke has also taken a Minnesota visit already and looks to be very interested in getting an offer from the Gophers.

Travis Y is RECRUIT NÚMERO UNO. A must get for NDSU. Kid loves loves NDSU. UNI was dirty offering him the same day hedberg announced he was going to his bball game.

This is a Noah gindorf type kid, he will get FBS offers and gophers. But NDSU needs to be aggressive with him

Mike Felt the ndsu basketball player coaches there too, so there's your "IN" bison coaches!

Correct. Years past this time would be when most of the junior evaluations would happen and they would put together their board of prospects. With the early signing period last year I’ll bet they already have their board and are comfortable making offers.
One thing to remember is these are all verbal offers. Most of these players will never get written offers from NDSU. The important offer period will still be May, June and July. Anybody know if the written offers timeline moved up with the early signing period?

One recruit mentioned lately is RB Evan Hull of Maple Grove MN. He has had gameday visits to Minnesota and Iowa, and 247 reports Hull has visits scheduled to Iowa 1st, then to Fargo (March 9th), Iowa State and SDSU. With the way offers have been flying around, will be interesting to see if he gets to Fargo without an offer from the Hawkeyes, Gophers or Cyclones.
Hull isn’t exactly an under-the-radar prospect - 247 has him rated a 3 star -
GopherHole has this summary:

2017 All-USA Today Minnesota First Team. All State First Team. Star Tribune All Metro First Team. KARE11 All Metro. In 12 games, has 320 carries for 2174 yards and 19 TDs. In 2017 T&F, recorded a 10.78 100m and 21.81 200m. Has recorded 4.4 40, 32" vertical, 255 max bench, and 405 max squat.

Roddy is being recruited for both football and basketball, depending on the school. He was offered by NDSU for football but believe has basketball offers from the likes of UNI, UND, etc. He is a QB, and believe NDSU offered him as such. He will need to make a decision on which sport to pursue in college.

El-Amin legacy at North

The last name of sophomore guard Nasir El-Amin — who started in the Class 1A title game — sounds familiar, and with good reason.

His father, Markram El-Amin, was a star player for North, graduating in 1988. Uncle Ishmael El-Amin starred for the Polars and is a 1994 alum. Another uncle, Khalid El-Amin, led North to three straight state crowns from 1995-98. Brother Malik El-Amin led the Polars to the Minneapolis City Conference in 2011.

Let's see, und can't recruit good HS seniors but has to go the Juco and transfer route. Player development is non-existent as last year showed and you're questioning our recruiting after 6 NC's.

Hope he sticks because hes a great fit for our system. What we do know is hes not holding out for the "big offers" because hes already gotten them, which is unique. What's even cooler is he hasn't even experienced a live game at the dome which is typically mind blowing

Evan Hull article

http://m.startribune.com/maple-grove-and-running-back-evan-hull-aiming-for-no-retakes/485749881/

Maple Grove running back Evan Hull rushed for over 2,100 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, helping the Crimson to its fifth consecutive state tournament appearance.

This fall, the incoming senior hopes to help the team win its first state championship.......

......Recruiting interest:

Hull said he started being recruited last summer after attending the University of Minnesota football camp. He received his first scholarship offer from North Dakota in early February and has since received offers from Buffalo, North Dakota State, Air Force and most of the schools in the Ivy League.

Hull, whose goal is to play for a Power Five school, said it’s humbling to receive interest from colleges. He said he ranks schools in part on how interested they seem in him, something he gauges by talking with coaches.

“I want to go somewhere where I feel like I’m really wanted,” he said.......

When NDSU first went DI, there was a lot of negativity in the normal recruiting area so they hit Illinois really hard that first year: Walker, Mays, Drago, Cinque Chapman, and two others. Not sure what order they were in, of course.

Deland McCullough - ATH - KS (Blue Valley North) - Miami OH

NDSU offered several months ago - Ryan has been working towards a FBS offer and just got a preferred walk-on offer from home state Wisconsin......

SDSU is having a very good recruiting season, up to about 10 verbals, and the Jackrabbits have won quite a few Head-to-Head MVFC battles - but I don’t think the Bison have lost a head-to-head recruiting battle yet with them. I think that really depends on the position the player is expected to play. I would never expect us to beat out SDSU for a WR from SD. Now a D-line or O-line, we better take that kid without a problem.

The thing with recruiting between SDSU and NDSU (and the rest of the Valley really) is that with both schools successes, they can reach for higher targets which then filters down to the other teams. Let's say NDSU gets a P5/FBS/3-star guy. Well, that leaves a 2-star guy that they normally would have had to the rest of the Valley. Rising tide lifts all ships. Should be a pretty interesting year watching how the recruiting battles play out.

I haven't seen much for commitments for UNI so maybe I'm jumping to conclusions but I think this recruiting season is underscoring the fact that SDSU has passed them up as well. The results on the field over the last few years have shown it and now that seems to be translating to recruiting. It seems SDSU is beating them with regularity in the recruits' living rooms. It wasn't that long ago that MSP was "the battleground" between NDSU and UNI... now it seems SDSU is the primary threat there. Pretty crazy to think about because just 10 years ago UNI owned this conference. Now they're the 3rd fiddle at best.

Saw an article the other day on Iowa’s recruiting - my recollection is that they already have the scholly RB & LB’s covered for this season (barring a change). So, fwiw, thought that would improve NDSU’s chances with Baker.
Also, Iowa took a bunch of PWO LB’s in their last recruiting class.

He already has quite the offer list - Air Force, Northern Illinois, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Illinois State, SDSU, Missouri State included

So Goeser tweets out last night 4 total recruits yesterday, 2 DL. Weisenberger and Kuntz are the only ones announced yesterday. Jacobs hints at another commit this morning and it looks like that's Derritt. That leaves two unannounced recruits. Are they counting Weisenberger as a DL commit? Are they counting Derritt as committing yesterday? I don't care how you slice it, there's 2 commits that haven't announced unless I'm totally overthinking this... HELP!

It's summarized pretty well here: https://247sports.com/college/north-dakota-state/Season/2019-Football/Offers/

I believe the only FCS battles NDSU has lost are Hoitink to Penn and Bauer to SDSU. There's quite a few losses to FBS... mostly P5 right now.

Edit: I guess it's not as many as I thought

Akron: (1) LB Jarred Uran
Cincinnati: (1) DE Izaiah Ruffin
Iowa: (1) DE Jake Karchinski
Kansas St: (1) ATH Keenan Garber
Nebraska: (1) OT Matthew Anderson
Miami (OH): (1) ATH Deland McCullough II
Northwestern: (2) DE Adetomiwa Adebawore, WR Wayne Dennis

Penn: (1) OG Ben Hoitink
SDSU: (1) WR Canyon Bauer

Bauer wasn't listed on 247 so it's possible there's others I'm not aware of that also weren't on there.

Typically we get the guys who go to the camp to commit within a few days. Not sure how many other camp players have offers out.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing it spread out a little. With the 2 signing day classes, there are a ton of gems/overlooked players who peaked late in the year for the later February signing day period. When you sign too many guys in June, you run the risk of them having a crappy senior and blowing all your scholarships in one sitting. For that reason I like the blue chippers early, some later in the year, and a handful in February. We got 4 really good players in February, the 3 kids from Florida and Jasir Cox.

Yep, sounds like a very good playbook for NDSU with that addition of the new early signing period in December last year. NDSU does a great job of getting early commits, and the coaches decided to keep a few schollies in their back pocket for the later signing period, then go find some overlooked players or players whose other offers fell through. Most other FCS schools could (should?) be envious of NDSU’s ability to do that.

Would like to see another potential CB. Last year’s recruiting class only had 1 scholly CB, Josh Hayes, and he then played as a true freshman, so a bit of a gap there on the roster, especially in the future depth at the position.

1st two potential CB verbals:
- Anthony Coleman
- Terrell Hall

I'm looking into ATH Cameron Baker out of Council Bluffs, IA. He has offers from Iowa, Indiana, UNI and NDSU. He had visited NDSU already this spring it appears and loved it and retweeted Anthony Colemans's commitment. Would be a great get!!

Came across this recruiting stock note on Cameron Baker at HawkeyeNation:

Cameron Baker, LB, Council Bluffs Jefferson, ’19

Stock: arrow, blue, go, point, right icon

Outlook: The longer Baker waits the less likely it is that he’ll end up in the black and gold. The Hawkeyes already have two linebackers committed in Campbell and Jacobs. They’re also well positioned for Omaha’s Nick Henrich. They took four linebackers in the ’18 class and it’s probably unlikely they do the same in this cycle. Baker also is being recruited as a running back, but Iowa doesn’t see him at that spot right now. I get the feeling that he wants to play offense and he could end up going to a smaller school, like Northern Iowa, so he can.
