I know the question is going to be brought up, so I'll try and explain what the algorithm is doing here, regarding Tomasello/Lee's ranking.

Spencer Lee's EloRank was 1434.43 prior to beating Tomasello, while Nathan's was 1576.86. Their rankings afterward are 1476.28, and 1565.96 respectively. So Lee's goes up by 41 points, while Tomasello's drops by about 10. So just because the head-to-head rankings don't reflect what just happened, you can see that both wrestlers EloRank values were changed accordingly. Tomasello's ranking is still higher because he has a MUCH LARGER body of work.

Big Mover this week!
#15 Jason Renteria at 133 pounds. He moves up 141 spots after his impressive start to his college career. https://www.wrestlestat.com/wrestler/49208/renteria-jason/profile

Man, I keep hammering on this, and sorry to the Bison fans for doing so on their board. But how can SDSU beat UNI & Wyoming in duals in one weekend, two teams somehow ranked higher than them, and still move down a spot in the dual team rankings and be ranked below both?

Well, I'm sure that andegre will be back to explain how it works, but I think his dual rankings are pretty straightforward. He just takes the projected starting lineups for each team, and uses projections for the individual matches to simulate dual meets between every team. He just sorts the list based on who has the most projected wins. If you click on the 46-30 next to SDSU, you can see how he projected each dual meet. I think that seems like a fair thing to do, although I think it might be misleading if one team is very slightly favored in a lot of matches. Anyway, I think if you have a beef with this system, it is either with the starting lineups or else with the individual projections, and those seem to be very complicated.

For what it's worth, which is not much, I have you guys at #12 in the system that I have been playing around with. That's still one below Wyoming, but it's better than UNI.

By the way, even if I don't always agree with the rankings, wrestlestat is a fantastic site and a great resource for us wrestling fans, so I really appreciate what andegre has put together.

Don't worry about these predictions and rankings. Bono and Reader have you guys in a great spot to place 2nd at the Big 12 Championships and maybe a top-10 NCAA finish two weeks later. Those are the only results that matter.

I agree with this whole heartedly, and hope my comments earlier aren't taken solely as a criticism of the site. While i don't think that the dual comparisons, individual projections, or starting lineups are always on point, the site itself is fantastic and something i use all the time as i'm comparing matchups and gathering insight as to lineups for various schools. It is a great resource for wrestling fans.

You are exactly correct on the dual rankings! Thank you
