Saw this in the Foolum today. Figured I would toss it out there for discussion (we know some media types lurk around here at least).

http://www.inforum.com/opinion/letters/4385736-letter-we-should-consider-citywide-viewing-party-future-championship-games

For me personally, I live by the cities so it's probably not really interesting for me. I assume there are plenty of bars and restaurants to gather with Bison fans.

I actually agree. Big giant HD video boards. Small tailgating setup. Beer. Kind of like a spring game except people will actually care about the game.

if the super screens ditched the ads on the sides, itd be sick...use those puppies to full potential.

ever since the Fargodome got the bigass screens on the endzones I felt like it would be a sweet idea and another money maker for the university.

That'd be tacky to charge money to attend.

How many tailgating spots could be sold on the floor?

That would be awesome.

Someone could set this up on their own...

They would have to allow booze otherwise they wouldn't have the crowd. Not a bad idea though

Pretty sure they have outlets in the floor. Remember, the dome hosts large trade shows.

ASPECT RATIO people. Unless you want the top and bottom cropped off the video you can't use the full video boards to display 16:9 content.

With the new plaza proposed in West Fargo at the corner of Sheyenne St and 32nd Ave, this was one of the events they promoted. The ability to host watch parties in the plaza on game days. Granted that could be pretty cold in January.

They would have to cover the cost of renting the dome

They also have a portable HD board they could set on the 50 yard line.

Tailgating on the floor would be incredible- absolutely awesome haha!

although tailgaiting on the floor would be incredible, I think we'd only get 5,000 or so people to come??? Maybe im WAY underestimating.

Would probably be more appropriate in the SHAC as far as capacity is concerned. however if we would be able to tailgate IN the dome, then all bets are off. best thing ever.

Tailgating in our stadium would be absolutely amazing. I'd almost skip Frisco to go.

But I wouldn't skip Frisco.

And 50% of that one is covered with ads too.

Not sure if people are being serious here. There is no way the dome wants to sacrifice another 4-5 saturdays for a potential concert. No way they would want the hassle of people’s vehicles inside the dome. If they just let people in to watch the game, I bet less then 1,000 people would show up. Maybe 2,000 if they sold beer. Its just not a good setup to watch a game on the boards.

You mean....................theyre never going to open the garage door to bring the Frisco Cruiser in through the garage and park it smack dab middle of the floor? Risking potential oil and coolant leaks all over the place?

I like the idea. Booze would have to be allowed. BYO would be even better. At halftime a rock band could play or DJ while everyone dances. I would think a fee would need to be charged for security, EMTs for the over indulgers.

I've seen the cars they've let into the dome for car shows over the years. I think if we laid down a tarp under the bus they'd let us in.

I think a watch party is doable. No way are they going to let you sots have a seven hour bender in your RV in the building.

Too good of an idea! Probably would be nixed by the NCAA or by ESPN.

Plenty of people have raised some valid practical concerns that would prevent this so I doubt it would happen.

But how much fun would it be to watch the game on the scoreboard with a few thousand close friends?
