shamen gets one, nice

kchats
11-05-2005, 07:18 PM
Sounds like the Bison are playing better so far today. Vartanian barely squeaks the extra point.

Whatever_
11-05-2005, 07:19 PM
thought they mentioned washington, never mind

Whatever_
11-05-2005, 07:19 PM

Whatever_

UNC announcer says that the line is blocking well for the run game but seems to be struggling on the pass blocking.

coloradobison
11-05-2005, 07:22 PM

coloradobison
11-05-2005, 07:22 PM

kchats
11-05-2005, 07:23 PM
No Andre Wilson? A good defensive showing would be great.

coloradobison
11-05-2005, 07:24 PM
he is doubtful to play at all

kchats
11-05-2005, 07:25 PM
Time to clamp down on defense it sounds like they are marching for a TD. A turnover would be nice.

kchats
11-05-2005, 07:26 PM
Yes big play defense. I hope the play stands with the Bison getting the ball. Yes let's put another one on them.

Whatever_
11-05-2005, 07:26 PM

Who is playing QB for the Jacks?

kchats
11-05-2005, 07:29 PM
Sounds like the Bison are mixing up the playcalling a bit this weekend. It is good to hear the Bison are playing the young guys that earned it.

kchats
11-05-2005, 07:29 PM
Chapman is playing like a man possessed right now. Good job Cinque.

Who is playing QB for the Jacks?

Kardoes got the start and is playing pretty well so far...

3-4 80 yards and 1 TD

coloradobison
11-05-2005, 07:30 PM
nice to see him back running well

somebison
11-05-2005, 07:30 PM
nice to see Cinque getting the ball a bit, though Steffes is real good, no reason to give him close to forty carries when you have a more than capable fresh back on the bench

jackmd
11-05-2005, 07:30 PM
Who is playing QB for the Jacks?

Kardoes, playing well. Has hit Davis for a 35 yard TD and several other long gains. SUU can't stop our running game, big holes from the "hogs". SUU has 4 possesions, 2 first downs, and 4 punts. We have the ball again moving towards another score. Penalties have been the only thing slowing us down.

kchats
11-05-2005, 07:31 PM
Boy we could have used this Cinque against Cal-Poly and UC-Davis.

coloradobison
11-05-2005, 07:32 PM

Here are the comments from Bison Zone writer after the first quarter.

Writer Comments: UNC defense is a shell of what it once was. I didn't realize most of the student body deer hunts, too.

Must be a very small crowd today.

kchats

coloradobison

kchats

Considering the Bears defense isn't as good as they once were the Bison should be doing better on offense.

Kind of wonder when the guys who schule the games will recognize that they shouldn't schedule a home game the same weekend as the deer opener.

kchats
11-05-2005, 07:47 PM
The Bears fans said they should be able to run on them all day. Their defense isn't very good this season.

coloradobison
11-05-2005, 07:47 PM

coloradobison
11-05-2005, 07:56 PM
they have had alot of injuries....

kchats
11-05-2005, 07:57 PM

coloradobison
11-05-2005, 07:58 PM

somebison
11-05-2005, 07:59 PM
by my count, UNC is 2-12 against fully funded I-AA teams since announcing their move up. They need to do something different

Jacks score again

SDSU 31
SUU 0

SUU has 30 yards offense and 1 first down. Crowd is very small which sucks. I do envy the crowds in Fargo.

I hope that they are capable of archiving it if it isn't working. I know when Bison Zone doesn't work they can't archive their feeds. On a positive note you can watch the Craig Bohl Coaches show for October 9, 2005 the week after the Cal-Poly game.

scottheck
11-05-2005, 08:14 PM
I was all set to post something about a penalty free half until that "late hit". At least this week, it's not us shooting ourselves in the foot with dumb penalties.

Whatever_
11-05-2005, 08:16 PM
Seems like they've played pretty error free football besides the first pick by walker. I would say its quite an improvement.

kchats
11-05-2005, 08:18 PM
I think the level of competition today isn't very high. Northern Colorado has been decimated by injuries on defense which plays into the Bison's hands since they have been struggling on offense. Maybe this will give them confidence on offense to face a much better Jacks defense next weekend.

coloradobison
11-05-2005, 08:19 PM

SDSU 38

Can't wait to bring this SDSU team to Fargo. With Kardoes healthy things seem to be clicking. Our D seems fired up after giving up 55 last week. If not for 10 penalties we might have 50 points by now.

Jacks return pick for TD.

SDSU 45
SUU *absolutely nothing

We're coming, we're coming. *I don't think the rock will be leaving Brookings for awhile. *I see a GWC title in our future.

Bison are pounding UNC 37-0 and have brought in the backups already.

Don't get too confident it is in the Fabulous FargoDome.

Bison are playing the role of spoiler. Looking forward to seeing them fail in that role.

Still early in 2nd half in Brookings. Berry getting ready to enter the game and I suspect more back-ups will follow. Will be rested and ready. I look for a good game and may be better team win.

44-0 Bison midway through the 4th quarter. Bison with a good drive led by Parsons with Cinque eclipsing the 100 yard mark for the day too. Both Steffes and Cinque over 100 yards quite a dominating day for the Bison.

UNC has a very good rushing attack normally. Their offense hasn't been their major problem this season it has been their defense.

The Bison are now playing Simeon Cabal(sp?) and he is gaining large yards.

One thing I've noticed about DI-AA is that even decent teams get blown out from time to time. The Bears just have to shake it off.

I'm guessing the players were a bit fired up for this one because the Bears have owned them for a while and, of course, the normal Beat the Big Sky thing.

They were one of the top division II teams before they made the move to division I-AA. They are really struggling in the transition. I think they need a coaching change.

Lardinos with a sack and strip of Hager. He makes plays when they play him. I would like to see them play him more.

I guess the final play UNC gained 13 yards on the final play to get them to 10 yards rushing on the day. Dominating defensive performance.

It sounds like the confidence has returned.

That's about what the SDSU vs. SUU game felt like today. But I'm not sure SUU could beat Augustana. They must have played a lot better against the Bison last week, because the only worse team I have seen this year is Valpo, and as you NDSU fans know, that's saying something.

At any rate, our home conference game today sounds like it was about as "intense" as yours. Luckily, there's next week and the Dakota Marker game. Our offense seems to be coming around (we finally have a passing game to go with the running game) and the defense held SUU to negative rushing yards. Meanwhile, NDSU seems to have put everything together today.

I think we're looking at a really good game next week. The home field is a big advantage for the Bison, but I think you'll see the Jacks are much improved over last year's team. Both teams have something to play for, so it should be a lot of fun.

The Bison are better at QB and running back than last season but I think the offensive line was better last year and the Bison had more depth on defense. I know the Bison have played a tougher schedule this year and they are 6-3 so they must be better as well. I think it will be a good game but the Bison will have revenge on their mind for the game last season and homefield advantage which against SDSU has been huge.

Steffes is a monster, of course. And Walker is really good. NDSU has always had great backs (including my high school classmate Chad Stark.) And I don't doubt for a minute that home field and revenge are huge factors in this one for NDSU.

The Jacks have a strong and deep offensive line, exceptional running backs (Watson, Koenig, Hohn), an improving defense, and a good kicking game. Our QB situation has been a mystery. If you had asked me this morning, I'd say Andy Kardoes should be benched in favor of RS Freshman Ryan Berry (who had five TD passes last week against Georgia Southern.) But Kardoes has had a high ankle sprain that everybody said was the reason for his very poor performance this year. The kid looks physically like he should be all-world. He's big and strong and fast. Until today, however, his passing was... um... terrible.

His ankle must be all healed because he looked great today: his passes were on target and he outran the SUU defense pretty easily a couple of times (yes, I know... they're not so good). He's a key for us. If Kardoes plays like he can, it'll be a really good game. I can't wait.

I expect the Jacks to come ready to play and with a lot of emotion. That said, they will have to keep it up for 60 minutes in a place that is unlike any place they have played this year. I'm expecting a great game from both teams with the Bison coming out on top of course. ;D

The one player I really like for SDSU is the kid from Lakeville, Molitor . I was hoping the Bison would sign him out of high school and I guess I don't even know if they recruited him. It seems like he makes a lot of plays at the WR position for SDSU.

Not sure what you mean by a place unlike any SDSU has played before? Other than the student section the dome is a dead place where people are more busy stuffing their face and telling others to sit down and shut up. There is no noise or intimidation factor at the dome. The only thing working against SDSU is their losing streak at the Dome, but even lowly Augustana put an end to theirs a few years back. SDSU is a good team and if they come in with a couple thousand noisy fans and play a good game with confidence they will win. I do think the Bison are a better team but they just don't have the confidence or swagger of old. SDSU with fewer scholarships, tradition, etc. has built a team that believes it can beat any team, any week. NDSU used to be like that many years ago.

i don't want to take any one piece away from the Fargo Dome as our record shows we have struggled beyond belief there. But to say we haven't played in a more hostile environment i would have to disagree as Wash-Griz would take the prize. I spoke with a few coaches and players who said that Wash-Griz was by far the noisiest and most hostile place they had played ever.

To that i don't expect the dome to by any easier this weekend. And yes Mr. Moliter will be forever in jackrabbit lore from the TD catch in last years Dakota Marker game but i would think you better focus your energy on #80 Josh Davis as he has tore apart our last two opponents for 6 TD's and is #1 all time on SDSU pass receptions list. he is something special.

SDSU had 4,000 at their home game on saturday. Just like most other years, if they could bring 1,000 not including their band, I would be impressed. However, if according to SDSU fans, NDSU only brought about 1,000 fans to Coughlin last year, I don't see over 500 SDSU fans making the game.

Maybe the Fargodome security will be too busy taking away bunny bells to notice anyone standing up. ;)

Hey Rabbit 79 you and I agree on something. See my post just above yours. Funny we were commenting on the same part of a previous post. I think SDSU's chances are better than ever to win at the Fargodome. The Jacks are getting better and building confidence. The Bison seem to have a tough time putting their best game on the field when the competition is tough and the fans in the Fargodome are as apathetic as ever. You bring 2000 fans who want to make noise and you will own the dome....just like undII used to do.

Boy SDBison you are really bitter. How long are you going to bash the Bison football team because you had trouble with fans in the stands? Yes the Bison are a young team and are learning how to prepare to play against the better opponents but they are at home and that counts toward something. I also believe the players from last seasons team as well as the coaches remember last year's game and will have a little something extra for this game.

kchats
11-06-2005, 05:37 PM
Why have all of you assumed that NDSU only blew out UNC because they are really bad and not because NDSU is pretty good? We have been in the top 25 all season and even cracked the top 10. Yes SDSU had an impressive win at home yesterday against a weak opponent much like NDSU had a dominating win yesterday at home against a weak opponent. Give the Bison their credit they have regained their composure and confidence and played a very good game yesterday. Penalties dropped off and everything yesterday.

SDbison

So kchats, what part of the following sounds like bashing or bitterness?
"I think SDSU's chances are better than ever to win at the Fargodome. The Jacks are getting better and building confidence. The Bison seem to have a tough time putting their best game on the field when the competition is tough and the fans in the Fargodome are as apathetic as ever."
I believe it is all a statement of fact. As for the fans at the Fargodome, who are you to even have an opinion since you have never been to a game there. I think most would agree that it is a very stale environment (love that echo sound), non-home advantage place where fans who want to be entertained come to sit on their butts and clap at the two best plays of the game.
If the Bison ever get to a point of dominance again it will not be due to noisy fan support at home games. And at least I am doing things to change that lack of support. I drive to 500+ miles for every home game and get to at least one away game a year. I have started to get more involved with teammakers outside of my membership and I have had several recent talks with Gene Taylor.
Hopefully the result is an teammaker thunderzone that is promoted and placed in one area on the west side. This will be a place where more active non-students can get up and cheer all they want without dead ass fan interference. With my initiative, persistence, hard work and the help of others we will make it happen. BTW, I had a very encouraging talk with Gene after the game last night.
I might bitch but at least I get involved.

P.S. I do think someone needs to light a fire under the coaches and players ass to go out and make a statement at an important game (hint, this week). If they lose with a good game plan, playing with confidence and execution then I know they did their best. For the Bison a winning record is not enough.

How about this?

I'm glad you are having meaningful and productive discussions with Gene Taylor. He is a reasonable man and you should be able to work something out.

I do believe you are discounting the Bison defense the past two weeks and the fact that the offense was very productive and efficient yesterday. Walker completed 14 of 18 passes for over 200 yards and the Bison ran for over 150 yards. Yes UNC is down this year but the Bison executed their offense very well yesteray to put up those kinds of numbers.

*You bring 2000 fans who want to make noise and you will own the dome....just like undII used to do.

Jacks won't bring remotely close to 2,000 fans. That would be at least the entire visitors section completely filled, along with at least three of the endzone sections. They couldn't accomplish that even if their band was making the trip.

Maybe 500, and that's being pretty optomistic.
