The "100th win this decade" thing is old news by now but figured it might as well have its own thread.

Here are the winningest FCS teams of the decade:

Team
Wins

North Dakota State
100

Sam Houston State
81

Eastern Washington
76

Jacksonville State
73

It's incredible but I think we have a great shot at beating Montana's record.

You mean Montana still has records that haven't been broken already.

Not sure where to put this, figure here is as good a place as any.

North Dakota State has created its own history book for FCS football (http://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2017-10-25/north-dakota-state-has-created-its-own-history-book-fcs-football)

Nice article, but it seems like the author believes that Wentz was on the team when the Bison beat Iowa last year.

The media never lets facts get in their way when reporting.

The decade actually didn’t start until 1/1/11 but I’m thinking if you were to look at any 10 year period, not just the ones staring with a zero, NDSU is probably climbing the ranks.

I'll have no problem swapping a 9 win season for a 12-15 win season. Awesome.

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I heard this the first time. Decades/centuries been misrepresented this way for a while now though... for instance everyone celebrated the "new millennium" on New Year's Eve 1999 when it really didn't happen until New Year's Eve 2000. It's just easier to group decades together as the 80s, 90s, 00s, etc.

Does any know how many consecutive years that any of the historical FCS powers had at least 12 wins? (ie. Montana, Youngstown, App. State, Marshall)*

6 consecutive for NDSU (2011-2016).

*too lazy to do the research.

Nailed it, but as someone said, the media don't want to get facts get in the way of their reporting, especially JJ. They are, however, saying THIS decade, so they are wrong no matter which way you cut it. People in general simply do not understand the Gregorian calendar and that there was no year 0 between BC and AD. But, we wouldn't want facts to get in the way of a good story about the Bison, would we :D

I don't think this has your answer, but it has a lot of interesting historical FCS stats. http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=73048

More importantly, if my math is correct (I'm sure it's not). That gives us 148 wins in the DI era.

SDSU is celebrating their 100th.

Man, ESPN guys did their homework. The threw up a graphic that showed NDSU's total wins for the decade comparing it to Montana's record (they had 119 wins from 2000-2009.) NDSU is now as 118.

But hats off to Mount Union, the beasts of DIII. Their had 138 wins from 2000-2009. They are up to 126 in this decade so they could get over 140 in this decade.

Modern records for most wins in a decade
FBS: 2010-2019, Alabama: 112 with 1+ seasons left.
FCS: 2000-2009, Montana: 119 (NDSU at 118)
DII: 2000-2009, Grand Valley State: 122
NAIA: 2000-2009, Carroll (MT): 123 (NDSU's best DII decade was the 1980's with 103 wins)
