At 149, Max Thomsen made a nice jump up, moving 5 spots to finish at #11 after beating #3 Lavion Mayes over the weekend.

Dual Rankings: http://www.wrestlestat.com/rankings/dual

Oklahoma State slips passed Iowa this week to take the #2 spot. Northern Iowa makes a nice jump up after beating Missouri, going up 7 spots to finish at #14.

Tournament Rankings: http://www.wrestlestat.com/rankings/tournament

Iowa and Virginia Tech both fall spots after Ohio State gets Bo Jordan his starting status which pushes them up 2 spots to finish at #3.

How is SDSU ranked 24th in the dual rankings, 9 spots lower than an Oklahoma team they beat in a dual?

Cmon use that SDSU education and look at who each lost to. It isn't that hard to figure out. OKlahoma lost to #'s 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,12,16, SDSU lost to 8 teams ranked worse than #16.

I haven't looked too closely (or at all) at how the dual rankings are formulated, so maybe I'm just missing something? When you say "who they lost to", what are you referring to? Projected losses?

He takes individual rankings and uses them to simulate dual meets against all 76 other teams.

Thanks for the explanation guys. Not trying to be a homer, it just seems like SDSU is ranked low compared to actual results and compared to other national team rankings. Individually, SDSU wrestlers are ranked lower than almost any other ranking I've seen as well. I was just curious how things were calculated.

It's a computer calculation so it's not perfect. If you compare SDSU and OU they still have SDSU losing the dual by 8. So it's not perfect, just fun to get a ballpark where guys are at. I personally like it mostly for comparing common opponents between wrestlers before they meet.

Agreed. I use the dual matchups prior to almost every dual I watch...it's a great tool for that aspect.
