I saw something on Twitter that made me think....

https://twitter.com/jamespalmertv/status/806170198956969984

Who are the best NFL players who played against the Bison in the D-I era?

Here is a start with some of the bigger names...Please add:

Vincent Jackson - Northern Colorado
JJ Watt - Central Michigan
Antonio Brown - Central Michigan
Eric Decker - Minnesota
Tyler Lockett - Kansas State
David Johnson - Northern Iowa
Zack Zenner - South Dakota State

David Johnson based on that he never had a bad game against the Bison. If it wasn't for injuries or coaching decisions by UNI, he might have given NDSU more problems.

Good one! Not sure how I forgot him.

I'd pull Zenner off the list. Compared to the rest, he hasn't been much of an impact.

I disagree. He has gifted us with the ultimate measurement for failure .

Yes, and related to Matt. And Nick committed suicide 3-5 years ago.

Yes, but the thread was in regards to players NDSU faced during the DI era.

Taiwan Jones has had a solid six year career so far with the Raiders. While he hasn't been spectacular at any one thing, he has shown some serious versatility by playing multiple positions over his career.

For QB one of the most impressive I watched was Rhett Bomar. He was in the NFL briefly. Dude passed for 358 yards 4 Tds 1 Int and rushed for 103 yards against the Bison.

RB - David Johnson....their are good running backs in the FCS but watching that dude was a situation where I could recognize a difference between good and elite.

For a D2 opponent, QB Jason Vander Laan of Ferris State impressed me. He had a very short stint as a TE with the Jets. His stats didn't look crazy that game but you could tell he would be a good FCS QB that was stuck on a D2 team.

Yeah, that dude fucked our shit up more than once. Xavier Williams and David Johnson were the first guys I thought about when I read this thread title. If DJ could have gotten better blocking and been able to stay healthy in his games against the Bison, it could have been more painful for all of us.

I still find it funny we played both JJ Watt and Antonio Brown in 2007...I had no clue until the other night.

Along with Johnson, they turned out to be the best NFL players we faced while they were in college during the DI era.
