Thought it was interesting that Coach Klieman said the guys need to have more fun out there. Interestingly, Christian Dudzik said the same thing in the post game.

It's definitely a grind... they've been working their asses off forever and even wins aren't celebrated that much by fandom (or so it would appear.)

Dudzik suggested practicing a trick play this week just to give them something new to chew on.

There is a lot to be said about that. Just look at what Joe Maddon does with the Chicago Cubs. Sometimes players need to be reminded that they are still playing a game that the decided to play as a kid because they like to do it.

The players suffer from the same problem us fans do in that they expect so much out of themselves it becomes unrealistic to achieve those expectations. 5 years ago NDSU players and fans alike would be absolutely ecstatic to be 7-1 with the schedule they've played to this point. Each year the streak continues the expectations seem to get higher and higher both from the player's perspective and from the fan's perspective.

That said it's not a horrible mentality to have. Like Lombardi said, perfection isn't attainable but if you strive for perfection you can achieve excellence. I like that the players have such a high expectations for themselves but they need to appreciate their success as well as recognize their failures along the way, just like we as fans need to do.

Game 6 of the '91 World Series, Puckett was talking smack to his teammates how he was going to end the game and swing whatever the first pitch was. The rest is history. There something to be said for having some fun.....
