Was just released. NDSU received 74 votes. Tied with UCLA for 27th. Iowa received 47 votes.

I believe this is easily a new high for an FCS team.

points, not votes. there are likely many voters who put NDSU higher than 25

I cannot believe TCU has that many after the way SDSU played them and then a loss to Arkansas

This is probably the pinnacle. Voters have the win over Iowa in mind. In a few weeks they won't be paying attention to wins over Illinois State

This what I was thinking when I saw the poll. If we weren't going to be 25 now, we aren't going to be it later in the season as our schedule is FCS only and most voters will probably not see another NDSU snap unless we are playing in January. I think a replay of the FG is about the only Bison snap most of the voters will ever see of the Bison this year.

Iowa had nothing to be ashamed of. They lost to the Bison , many FBS schools have, this is not an "upset". Iowa should not be punished for playing an FBS caliber team which happens be in the FCS.

We needed the redbirds to win last week as if they were undefeated and had beat Northwestern that would have helped us as well. If Game Day comes that may give us a boost as well as i am sure they will talk about it and give us a bump.

The opponent has not mattered the last two times. It's all about if there is a compelling FBS matchup for them to cover.

I think history shows the opponent does not matter. If CGD comes it is out of respect of 5 NC and what was done this sat.

Considering that our Homecoming matchup against Ill St. was the most likely date for ESPN Gameday to make an appearance in the first place this win pretty much solidifies that if they are coming this season that will be the day. Hope to see them in a couple weeks!

Yeah, I didn't follow all their logic, but definitely seems to be a bit biased. Looking at some of the teams in that list ahead of them in each conference, I would be pretty confident that the Bison would beat many of them at least 50% of the time -- even without the additional scholarships and resources.

They need one more adjustment to consider.... if NDSU had full FBS scholarships. All the comparisons I have seen have the Bison with FCS scholarships vs FBS numbers. How about equaling it up in these hypotheticals.

I don't think Iowa will finish that low. Their metric sucks. Take the funbelt, for example. Not only is App State 1-2 and sure they played Tennessee tough, but they got the shit kicked out of them by Miami who is probably on par with Iowa. Right now, without the extra full scholarships, they are probably easily in the top 10 of G5 schools. I would say top 5, but I don't want to come across too much like a homer. When schools are more connected in Sagarin and the Bison take care of business, they will move up in the computer rankings and are probably a top 40 team. That blows away all of those predictions. Throw in the extra full scholarships and a couple recruiting seasons and they aren't in the bottom third of any of those P5 conferences. I am not saying they win P5 conferences, but they would play competitive football and could legitimately put together teams that could hang around the midway point of almost all the P5 conferences.

I love numbers and they can tell a lot of stories, but football is still a game you have to watch and see with your eyes who passes the test.

Look at the (bad) losses today at the back end of the top 25 including #26 Arizona St. losing to USC

No. 17 Michigan State (2-2) lost to Indiana 24-21, OT. Next: vs. BYU, Saturday.
No. 18 Utah (4-1) lost to California 28-23. Next: vs. Arizona, Saturday.
No. 19 San Diego State (3-1) lost to South Alabama 42-14. Next: vs. UNLV, Saturday.
No. 20 Arkansas (4-1) beat Alcorn State 52-10. Next: vs. No. 1 Alabama, Saturday.
No. 21 TCU (3-2) lost to Oklahoma 52-46. Next: at Kansas, Saturday.
No. 22 Texas (2-2) lost to Oklahoma State 49-31. Next: vs. Oklahoma at Dallas, Saturday.
No. 23 Florida (4-1) beat Vanderbilt 13-6. Next: vs. LSU, Saturday.
No. 24 Boise State (3-0) vs. Utah State. Next: at New Mexico, Friday.
No. 25 Georgia (3-2) lost to No. 11 Tennesee 34-31. Next: at South Carolina, Saturday

There is a good chance NDSU will be ranked tomorrow.

FWIW, even though the Bison's vote total has shrunk once again so did the gap between them and #25. In the Week 4 poll they had 74 points and #25 had 139 (-65). Last week they had 58 points and #5 had 142 (-84). This week they have 46 points and #25 only has 85 (-39). #25 is a really volatile spot though.

In case anyone cares the Bison dropped another 10 points this week down to 36 points to come in at #31 (which is ahead of preseason #8 Stanford). Somehow Iowa got 3 votes after their uninspiring win at Minnesota (they had none last week).

That is pretty cool. Here's the link to the breakdown of all the voters with NDSU in their polls: http://collegepolltracker.com/football/team/ndsu/2016.

It also shows previous weeks so you can see who's dropping NDSU lower or completely off their ballots. Interesting that Josh Kendall (South Carolina voter) had them at #18 last week and took them completely off this week.
