NORMAN — Mark Cody announced Thursday that he has resigned as the University of Oklahoma's head wrestling coach after five years at the post.

"I am extremely grateful to have had the privilege to coach at the University of Oklahoma," said Cody. "I believe it is time for new leadership and for this reason I am resigning effective immediately. I want to wish nothing but the best for everyone associated with the program."

I'm a bit shocked at this and sad to see Mark go as he's a good dude and a pretty good coach. I enjoyed working with him a few times in practice when he came to the USOTC years back as he does a great job of motivating people.

Looks like Lightner will be interim coach for the next year.
