Need more Twin Cities Kids!! losing Luke sucks, (HE WAS A TOP 10 Minnesota ranked recruit!) we always should have 8-10 kids from the Twin Cities Metro each year, PERIOD>

(Yes we get 6-10 each year from TC/Minnesota)

I think he said 8-10 per year which is a stretch. How many do we usually get from the TC?

3 or 4 - almost all from outside, often way outside, the 494/694 ring. Seems incredible that anybody would criticize NDSU's recruiting but you must consider the source.

Debate topic: Resolved: NDSU should start recruiting based on a geographic quota system. Debating for the affirmative: Lakesbison Rebutting: Nobody because why bother?

All one can do is move this crap to its own thread rather than mess up one that is meant to serve as a permanent reference.

A top 10 Minnesota recruit that obviously doesn't want to be at NDSU and doesn't want to compete for playing time. Good luck to him, but good riddance....Give me guys that wanna work their tails off, no matter what recruiting rankings say. Give me Haeg, Schaetz, and Steidl who will put in some effort to earn a scholarship over a guy that is upset that he has competition at his position.

And the 8-10 from the cities is pretty dumb. I would rather have all the right players from places no one has heard of than take wrong ones just to have a presence in MSP.

Great Point. It seems like El Chapo is recommending a DII recruiting model - I thought he was an FBS forward-looking evangelist. 5 championships in a row and the last 3 players drafted have been from Schuyler, NE; Bismarck, ND and Brainerd, MN.

Isn't Senor Chapo still on moderation? Can't you just delete or ignore the original message, so it doesn't mess anything up in the first place?

The recruiting process is not exact. Some of the "best" high school players do not pan out and then you get someone that comes out of nowhere and is a huge player. This goes just as well in the draft process as well. Tom Brady was not a 1st round pick but Ryan Leaf was. You have to trust in your coaches in all levels that their are able to see what the player is doing and able to improve on. Have them fit into your system and play nice with teammates. Not all players are fit for all systems. To bury your head in the sand and not look "outside" your area for players is foolish. Yes I will admit when a player comes from some distance there could be added issues like homesick, weather and culture shock. But I am sure the coaches ask all the right questions to these players. Bottom line is no matter where a player comes from if they truly want to be at the school they are at they will stay and do their best.

Quota system seriously. Were you drunk last night and posting? Would you perform your sales job on a geographical quota? Well already sold to 5 people in South Fargo, there is this really good lead but I better head out to Warroad to make a sale so I get out state Minnesota covered. Or would you rank your leads and work them top down????

I think it's been a while since we've gotten a recruit from Vermont. Get off your lazy ass coaches and start recruiting the northeast!

We always load up on Minnesota kids and it's our #1 state, so I am greatly confused. Almost 30% of our roster is from Minnesota

Not sure if the coaches are worried about where a recruit went to school as much as the recruit is talented and is a fit for their system. NDSU's ability to find "hidden gems" is uncanny skill lacked by most programs.

in our geographical area, Twin Cities football talent far exceeds the rest of said area's talent pool. how is this so hard for you knickleheads to understand ?

You're hate for el chapo is clouding your judgement!

keep bringing in the MWills, Billy Turners, Littlejohn, CJ Smith Crockett....etc

To be clear, El Chapo didn't create the actual title of the thread, calling for a quota system, correct? Was it was created by the admin to move this out of the standard recruiting thread? Are people ripping on him for the title? Or for the post about needing a stronger MN pipeline? Or just because it's El Chapo? (understandable) In this case, I actually agree with the sentiment of the continued importance of the MN pipeline, especially with U of M in a transition period with Claeys.

Say what you want...but Mohlers brilliance in the Kansas game is the reason why ndsu is where they're at. No win there, no snowball effect in confidence for a 2010 and no pissed off Bison team coming off an ewu heartbreak loss

I had never seen Jose Mohler and the word brilliant used in the same sentence. Brilliant doesn't work as well as moderately serviceable. I don't think that Jose was playing defense in KS, which was the only part of the game that might be considered brilliant.

how many points did the defense orchestrate? Jose doesnt win NDSU that kansas game, they are out of the playoffs and have zero reason to be motivated after the screw job.

Jose Mohler - 10-22 1 int 0 td vs a Kansas team that would have lost to last years Wyoming team by 20
