There already is a trophy on the line for this game. Usually it's for the MVFC title. Last year in the playoffs, it was for the right to continue on for the national championship. I don't think there needs to be a dedicated trophy for this game, there's usually enough on the line the way it is.

Something to keep in mind is who is playing for the trophy. As a fan, sure, maybe the Border Marker trophy doesn't mean much. But after seeing an opponent (I'm pretty sure it was the Jacks) hanging a Bison helmet in their weight room for motivation, I'm sure the guys in green and gold wanted nothing more than to win that game (trophy). They all look pretty excited when they get to grab it and hoist it into the air. As far as a trophy for the UNI game, I don't think we need one. The rivalry isn't a hundred years old, or with a bordering state. It's simply a strong dislike between two schools, one being the former top dog of the conference...and the other the newcomer that has not only taken over the MVFC but taken over the FCS.

UNI has a 40-20 record and has never made it past the quarters in the playoffs in the last five years. Sure, they play us tough but their overall record is just a better than average! In that same time frame we are what...70-5!

Maybe when President Bresciani approaches the legislature he could request funds for adequate trophy space, but I doubt they will respond with help.

Perhaps if 22% of the trophies where online or something another trophy could work, but a vast majority of NDSU's are hardware and many reside on campus.

Sure. The score against Kansas State was a squeaker, but the drive that caused it was not. As for Iowa State - apparently beating a team by more then twice thier score is now a Squeaker. Guess we really are JV. We won't be big-time til we win everything by a minimum of thirty points..... /purple
