Mark Schlereth talked about this happening to him during his draft year, on the radio in Denver - said he found it a bit odd, but the guy who asked it was the OL coach with the Redskins, where he got drafted. Coach said, the Hogs like to drink beers so it is a good thing he liked beer.

Actually not so dumb.... sort of a discerning question. Answer: Free = no standards; Answer: Guinness = focused and quality

I would have answered "Hamm, from the Land of Sky Blue Waters", but that is almost equal to answering "Free".

So, Moose Drool might not have been a 'classy' answer?

Actually, "classy" has nothing to do with it. Moose Drool would have flown over the comprehension of the fool analyst and experts who cannot discern that FCS is D1 football; that NDSU is better than the bottom 1/2 of FBS, and that Carson has played in temperatures below 32 degrees.

These analyst folks would be (if they do any research at all) scanning the Internet for Moose Drool on draft - http://bigskybrew.com/beers/moose-drool/ only to find it is a Mountain West Conference stuff.

Maybe I'm missing it, but where did Carson play in temperatures below 34 degrees? He played in home playoff games only, and very rarely is it below 32 in early November in Missouri, etc. Just curious why everyone is so riled up about Kiper's comments. It's highly unlikely he played in a HS game that was that cold either, I think I had one game that was colder than that in all of HS and it was in the state quarters at Blaine - it was like 2 degrees. Otherwise it was always above 34. Can he handle the cold? I'm sure, but if Kiper is right - and he probably is, what's the big deal?

Or not. He obviously is going to be one of Carson's biggest fans, they've been together 5 years. Unless Joe is a really good actor, the respect he has for Carson is genuiane, and he handled the question with class. Even if he gets tired of those questions, I'll bet he continues to answer the same way.

I just hope someone asks Carson what they think of Joe Haeg!

Did new Browns Head Coach Hue Jackson hint at their QB of choice................
He might have clued everyone in to his preference on which QB the Browns take with a comment he made Wednesday at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Jackson said hand size -- a trait that draws a lot of attention when it comes to QBs -- does indeed matter for signal-callers, citing the rainy, snowyweather that QBs will encounter when playing in the AFC North.

Why is this a potential hint into his QB preference?

The top quarterbacks at the combine this week have not yet had their hands measured here in Indianapolis, but the scuttlebutt, per USA TODAY's Tom Pelissero, is that Cal's Jared Goff, one of the top QBs available this year, has "tiny" hands.

It has more girth. It's not a huge difference but if you've got little mitts it can make a big difference with ball control, especially in bad weather.

What were Goff's hands doing in Carson's pockets? I kid, I kid.

My early combine predeiction- Goff dropping the furthest after the combine (#4 on the board), Cook moving into the #2 QB conversation and Lynch raising to #1 QB selected. Carson stays as the #2 QB selected.

He feels his experience in the shotgun is what will translate best from college to the NFL, because teams are doing that "more and more."

Interesting way to turn a limitation into a positive I suppose, but I doubt NFL teams are buying it.

My favorite part was when they started asking about Carson. "Yes, we know this is your presser but lets talk about Wentz, ok?"

Not specific to just Joe, but it seems just freakish for 300+ lb'ers to run that fast. I think those numbers blow me away more for OL/interior DL than benching 35 reps of 225 lbs.

I've always wondered what kind of 40 times, shuttle times, broad jump and vertical jump numbers the OL/DL guys would put up if they only weighed 230-240.

I too have fallen victim to the FBS bug, but exposure has been much greater for the NDSU program being fcs.

In my opinion Carson would be a high pick candidate from many schools. (Need some wins and a developmental program for conditioning/skills and that allowed him to ingest as much football knowledge as he has).

The love fest if largely due to the fcs angle.

Assumption is if he goes high, it creates a focal point and there will be commentary in many NFL games about "how in the heck does NDSU have so MANY producers in the league?"

Still have Haeg possible top 100, I think CJ still has an outside shot being drafted with scouts who have watched games. Plus a couple potential udfa's...

In the past I thought NDSU championships would lead to more Yankee type dislike with exposure. The bigger audience appears to be rooting for Carson and rooting for NDSU.

I love cheering for this program. Don't think there is any other sports fan situation that would be as enjoyable to follow, and be able to continually raise the bar and rise to the challenge. Keeps things very interesting, and I am curious if it would be the same if the team was FBS today.

NDSU is doing great things in sports and academics. Then students make a positive impact in the community outside school!

Way to go administration!

Rest in peace Scotty. Hail the Bison!

I re-posted the USA today sports page on Facebook to show my Bison/Wentz pride and right away a f'hawk fan came on about how UND has way more pro athletes than NDSU. Those douches are still a pain about the success of the Bison. What happens to those numbers when you remove hockey?

Did he happen to mention that they still have the nickel?

I hate to channel Sid Hartman but UND is basically an ad hoc Canadian junior team.

Carson with perfect throws from what they have shown so far. Playing the part of #1 QB. Maybe the combine will get some of the doubters on his side.

Carson also had a nice sideline out pass where the receivers are tip toeing out of bounds. He's had a perfect throw every time. But, what else would we expect from him.

Boykin will not play qb at any pro level. Driskel is more of a QB prospect than him. Either way, these times don't mean shit. Maybe if they ran in full pads but still.

Wentz has the afterburners on the ball today. May need to show some finesse but on the out route he absolutly put the ball out there and significantly earlier than the others. That's a win for him. By a lot.

I heard that too when they were discussing comments made by various sources after that first group went. Basically saying that everyone did fine and there were some nice throws, but nothing that made any one player stand out above the rest.

They're saying CW's feet are the "quietest" of anyone in his dropback...a good thing..and that he slides his feet along the turf, always close to the ground which is a good thing...they seemed quite impressed..and then he slings the out routes on the money.

Wentz is killing it, especially when you watch the other QB's in this group. Wentz is crisp on his drops, throws in rhythm, the ball is on a line and right where it needs to be. Kessler from USC and Hogan from Stanford look like they are throwing the shot put, and the Big 10 guys right in front of Wentz appear to be doing 5 step drops for the first time in their lives.

I knew Carson was good and we as a fanbase were completely spoiled, but I didn't expect him to appear this much better than the rest!

They did say that college has gone to spread. Those guys in front of him did not go undercenter and #16 never did five step drops. So you are correct.
If goff is the most ready to go, i would recommend cleveland go after him.
