I've thought for a long time that the look of the National Championship Trophy is a disgrace. It looks cheap especially in comparison to the Missouri Valley Championship Trophy which I think looks much nicer. This trophy should be special, it's national championship trophy for crying out loud, not a D league bowling trophy. Won't even try too compare it to the 1-A trophy. I think it's a real slap in the face to our division of football. I think we should petition the NCAA to up their game and improve the trophy. What does everyone else think.

It looks like every other NCAA championship trophy, it has nothing to do with the "division"

Does this look "cheap" to you?

If you're comparing it to the Soda Pop bowl, that thing is fucking ugly.

You do realize the same trophy goes to all winners of any NCAA sponsored Championship..the College Football Playoff (FBS) is not an NCAA sponsored event hence the elaborate DR Pepper trophy

I absolutely don't think so, however, people seem to give much deference to the "high major" schools and their sports so I figured that was the best example.

No I did not realize that ! However, I still think they look cheap ! Especially considering the millions of dollars the NCAA rakes in from the NCAA member schools.

I think the NCAA National Championship trophies are awesome. Clean, sharp looking piece of hardware in my opinion. They look especially nice in groups of 5 or more! :-)

I'd much rather have these than some blinged out, gaudy looking thing with some corporate logo that changes every few years.

The staff is actually underpaid. Most of them could make a lot more working in other industries. When I was an IT project manager I pursued a job there and I would have had to take a 25% pay cut. I have a couple good friends that work there in pretty high positions and they don't make a ton of money. Money is definitely not the reason most people work there.

Plus the FBS trophy is not an NCAA trophy it is a Dr Pepper Trophy. Trophy of the highest bidder of the game/contract.

I love the style of the trophy. It symbolizes championships in my mind. It is like the heart symbol representing love. Don't mess with it.

They don't do anything but suck up to the P5 conferences so they are still overpaid.

The trophy we get is the same except for a couple of details (baseball, basketball, football, hockey, lacrosse, track, swimming, etc.).

BUT is still a Legitimate National Championship Trophy! NCAA Division 1 National Champion!

March Madness, same level, same trophy.

Staggg Bowl in Division Three, same trophy, different Division.

F"BS"BS has a "National Champion" yes, but not a TRUE Champion. Their playoff's is a joke and BARELY qualifies as a playoff system.

IF/WHEN they get to a 16+ playoff system, I'll acknoledge their "National Champion". But until then. nope.

Well, for us, that is the national championship trophy, no?

Seriously though, I like the clean classy understated look. They could improve it some, the NCAA logo is a little too plain and I preferred the medallion on the older trophies. But all-in-all, I think they're fine.

Dumb question of the day, are there two sets of trophies? There is a set in Scheels and a set in this picture in the Fargodome. I always thought the ones at Scheels were the "real" ones but I am guessing they are copies?? Or does NDSU loan them to Scheels for periods of time?

You can order replicas. The real ones are in the football offices.

Absolutely YES.

The ones that travel to various towns and events are replicas

You mean the ones they trotted out at the SDSU bball game aren't real??? So SDSU still hasn't seen a real national championship trophy??

No wonder nobody wants to beat us if they think they're getting fake trophies! Knew 5 in a row was to good to be true! /purple
