Thompson at Tampa Bay huh.

That could be a great fit for him, considering NDSU plays the Tampa 2 defense. Anthony McFarlene will be on his way out in Tampa in the next couple of years, and his supposed replacement, Anthony Bryant, hasn't lived up to expectations.

What a good oppurtunity for Thompson.

Tampa did not sign any other DT free agents other than Thompson. They drafted two DE's, one is undersized at 250 and the other is only 277, with a 5.+ 40 time. Looks like a really good situation for him.

The smaller DE they drafted, Bennett, was mentioned in the scouting reports I read as a situational pass rusher/guy who might move to OLB in a 3-4, which doesn't really apply to this situation. Anyway, if they are looking to develop a DT I think that bodes well for Rodney sticking around at least for a while.
