Don't know if this has been brought up in another thread.......... Jacksonville Jags announced the firing of DC Bob Babich today. I wonder if he'll latch onto another team.

Babich. Bro has been making that NFL money for a decade.

They are friends, they sat down and talked about it, and BB understands. This is the NFL and there aren't any hard feelings.

Didn't appear to be any feelings at the Coughlin presser either /purple so can't say just because it is the NFL there would be all roses and perfume while they sat and talked.

That NFL money for someone with BB's resume isn't much more than the Saluki money that the stache has been making.

http://www.ehow.com/info_12036363_average-salary-nfl-defensive-coordinator.html
In September 2009, the Los Angeles Times, citing an NFL source, reported that the average NFL defensive coordinator made approximately $850,000.

Average for a coordinator in the NFL is under $1mil. Gus is "only" at $3.5 and I believe in the bottom 5 for head coaches. I spent about two minutes looking and couldn't find any of his actual salaties, but I highly doubt Bob has had a contact at a million per in his NFL career, especially since the vast majority of his time in the NFL has been as a position coach.

With coaches shows, bonuses, etc. Dale's total is probably approaching $400k with all the extras.

Of course Bob is making more, but even $200-$300k isn't really that a huge swing when you're moving from Carbondale to Chicago or Jacksonville, and he's not automatically a millionaire because "he has all that NFL money."

Last paragraph: you are fucking kidding, right? $200-300K isn't that much of a swing?! Yaright!! Good God!

The difference between $350-$400k in Carbondale and even $700-$750k in Chicago (where he likely had his largest contact) in standard of living is not that much, and the two are certainly closer to each other than the difference between that $750k and $1.1-$1.15 and nowhere near Gus's $3.5.

None of it is chump change, but it's not earth shattering money either.

If this website is correct, he didn't get much in the way of incentives.

250K/year seems like a reasonable guess?

There are people who live comfortably in a suburban lifestyle in Chicago and or Jacksonville on the margin you are describing. Please!!

That's lower that I thought. I must've misread the $220 as $280. I also assumed he has a coaches show that's not mentioned in the article, so maybe SIU doesn't have one.

I'm not denying that. Hell I'm living comfortably in the suburbs of Minneapolis on less than that margin. Once you start talking about individual incomes in those ranges though, what difference does $100k make really?

100K? Yes?, but that's not what you said.

No biggie. Go Bison, and I've always appreciated your posts.

Peace out on this one for me!

Edit: oh, me too in Hillsboro as far as margin living!

Now tonight Bobs former college teammate Lovie Smith. He gets fired at Tampa Bay after 2 seasons. Tough business.

Speaking of chump change, what does the HC at UW Eau Claire make ? Reportedly, Mr. Mustache is a finalist for that position.......from FCS to D-III ? Someone's career is headed in the wrong direction......

Some income is better than no income I guess. But yeah, thats not the direction he probably wants to be heading in.

If I was Kyle E, I'd ask for a trade. Joy Mays knows more than Bobby B, so he could stick around.

Babich did a good job as lb coach for the Bears under Lovie. I think he is over his head as a DC but a linebackers position coach he isn't bad.

He was "coaching" Urlacher and crew. He wasn't doing much coaching with those guys.

Couldn't agree more. Babich is a HORRIBLE coach. Said Gus made a big mistake hiring him. Gus is lucky he didn't get fired as well.

Yes, it was not a good decision for Gus to hire him as a dc.
