Bring on the F'n Hawks! I think overall we are a better team again this year. They were an average at best team last year, and they graduated their top 4 scorers. Anyone know when Brown is supposed t be back? I see Miller continuing to lead this team with the others having a big game as well. It's interesting that since the game has been renewed, the home team has won all 4 games. I see that streak ending on Friday. Glad the football game is not on Friday so this game will not be lost in the football hype, and actually Bison fans there. I'll be there, and I hope to see a lot of yellow at the game. I also hope they introduce the team as the Fighting Hawks so I can join them a they boo.

I think it will be a good game. UND does have some talented players, Hooker and Seales are both very good. They are pretty weak in the post which is good for us, because so far this season we have been getting dominated down low. UND's biggest weakness is easily coaching. Brian Jones has held back that program for 10 years and personally Id love to see them extend his contract because he will continue to hold them back. His teams often lack and identity and discipline, he takes zero responsibility of poor play, and his sideline antics are embarrassing.

Would be big to get Brown back, he is the leader of the team and just his presence on the court elevates his teammates play. Guessing we wont know until Friday but I have hunch he plays. As for the rest of the team we simply need to shoot the ball better. Other then Paul nobody has shot the ball all that well. I think Clements is starting to come along. AJ has had really good looks its only a matter of time before he gets it going. Khy and Carlin have to give us a little bit of offense, they dont need to do a ton but they have to be a threat. It seems like the last couple of games we have nobody as a threat to score other then Paul or AJ.

I just want to see the energy level up. We looked pretty flat throughout most of the last two games. Need to start fast and put these Fhawkers down early.

UND isn't great down low so would definitely like to see Dex and Miller establish themselves early in this one. Still wish Kading would've developed some sort of offensive game but he's huge for us on the defensive side of the ball. Easy points in the paint = higher FG%, big reason we've had the drop off since Bjorklund was here. Last 4 years FG%:

14/15 - 43.4%
15/16 - 42.0%
Our lack of post scoring and increase in 3PT shooting is what's led to the drop off, if we can develop some points in the paint and get that shooting % more in the mid 40's we will be a much more consistent and dangerous team. Hopefully Richman can get these guys going in the right direction with that on Friday.

Let's not throw our post play under the bus so much. In the 2013-2014 season, our 50.5% FG% LED THE NATION in that stat. Marshall shot 65% by himself!! Yes, we need to have good post play but those were some special years.

Not throwing them under the bus, the team as a whole doesn't try real hard to work it into them and we haven't done a great job of driving to the hoop and finishing either. Point is we are settling for a lot of outside shots late in the shot clock. Need to try to work the offense through the post a little more. Even when Dex is scoring inside he's usually doing so by starting 15 ft from the basket and driving in. I think Dylan has the skillset to play with his back to the basket that Kading doesn't so I'd like to see them work that more is all I'm saying. We rarely even throw the ball into the post.

I think we take control down low. Our bigs can score and defend well and there's are average. I predict the rebounding difference will be significant which will lead to a lot of second chance points. Miller and AJ do there thing. Won't be a blowout like last year, but I predict that the road team will finally win in this renewed rivalry.

The refs ruined what should have been a very good game last time around.

Actually that was true of the last game in GF. The refs had a new point of emphasis on hand-checking on the perimeter. It made that 1st game tough to watch with all the ticky-tack fouls on the perimeter.
Grand Forks U better exploited how the game was being called with dribble penetration all the way to the basket and won fairly easy.
After a couple games both the refs and the coaches (and players) had adjusted and basketball became more easy on the eyes again. It wasn't just that game, but all college ball that was ugly for a while.

A.) Jones is a tool. You know he's being a fuck when I can call the technical about 20 seconds before it happens.

B.) These teams both need to learn how to shoot free throws.

C.) Wtf was happening at the end? Fouling so much. Good gravy.

So nice to see Khy have a coming out party tonight. We dont need him to blow up every night but having him be a scoring threat is huge. Hopefully he can carry this momentum going forward. Dex did Dex things at the end just kept making big plays. Brillant job by the coaching staff getting him out there at the end. Also major kudos to the staff for going small in the 2nd half. That adjustment sparked our run.

I dont even want to comment on free throws....that was a beyond bad. Youth 7th grade teams could have shot a higher percentage.

Also extend Brain Jones....I dont know how the Fhawkers can deal with that guy. Just whines and throws temper tantrums on the court constantly. Hell he damn near hit the ball numerous times in the first half when we were near their bench because he was was acting like such a dbag...Yes its okay to get animated at certain spots but to do it a full 40 minutes is tiring and quite frankly embarrassing...so glad he is a Fhawker.

Lot to work on but glad we got the W tonight.

Kye was a straight out baller tonight! He is our starting pg from here on out. Free throws sucked but that is easier to fix then other ills. Great win. Side note: they never once referred to them as the fighting Hawks. Maybe when they initially came out but that was it. I don't think they wanted to have their fans boo their own team like at last weeks hockey game. Pretty sad when you can't use your own nickname for fear of backlash! Ha!

One of my biggest pet peeves is when a team produces a game highlight video that only shows their good plays. Really Bush league and D2. I love how NDSU actually shows the good plays the other team made, win or lose. It actually tells a story.

Marquette changed from the Warriors to Golden Eagles in 1994. Now almost a generation later there are still people who refer to them as the Warriors. Lots of money has been offered to change back ... which was denied.

Bottom line is will take generation(s) to accept a name change. Kids going to school today have always and only known Marquette as the Golden Eagles, eventually the same will happen for UND!
