I know there is a Coach K thread with a lot of this information.

FCS teams that need new coaches (so far):

Austin Peay
Eastern Kentucky
Jackson State
Maine
Montana State
South Dakota
Southern Illinois

I wonder if USD would go with Rob Ash? Although if they like the direction the program is heading, you'd think that they'd promote an assistant.

You have to think whatever job Ash takes the next job is probably his last job.

It'll be interesting to see what happens next week at SIU. Can't see them buying out Lennon but you wouldn't want a lame duck coach either.

Montana State hires their new Head Coach from the PAC-12

Montana State has hired Jeff Choate as its new head football coach, school officials confirmed Friday night.

Choate will be introduced as the program’s 32nd football at a news conference slated for 11:30 a.m. Monday. He comes from Washington, where the 45-year-old served as special teams coordinator and coached defensive linemen.

The Idaho native played linebacker and was a 1993 graduate of Montana-Western. He has spent much of his 14-year college coaching career with current Huskies coach Chris Petersen during stints at Boise State (2006-11) and in Seattle (2013-2015

Southern Illinois (FCS): Among the candidates who have interviewed for the Southern Illinois head coaching job are interim head coach Nick Hill, former Texas offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson (who served as head coach at Southern Illinois from 1994-1996), and former
Texas offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson (who served as head coach at Southern Illinois from 1994-1996), and former Minnesota assistant head coach / offensive line coach Matt Limegrover. We understand that there is at least one other candidate in the mix as well. Sources tell us to expect a decision soon

A lot of offensive minded coaches either hired or being interviewed in the valley. I find that interesting when it had been defenses that cost a lot of head coaches these jobs opening up in the first place. I get head coach is an executive leadership position and they hire coordinators to run their perspective sides of the ball, but it is a defense first conference.

Maybe they gave up on defense and want to try chucking the pigskin.
Playing defense is hard. No purple
Maybe players like seeing their name in the stats. Dont get that shine with defense.

You mean a fist full of rings type of shine??? I do understand what you're saying. Makes no sense to try and go with a go for broke offensive strategy but I'm not the one making the big decisions.
