For folks that have not been following, the NDSU College of Health Professions has landed multiple recent NIH grants at the School of Pharmacy. The last two were:

https://www.ndsu.edu/news/banner_sto...orectalcancer/

However, the College was cut out of the ND budget for a critical addition to Sudro that is needed in large part to support this research. See:

https://www.ndsu.edu/healthprofessions/space_needs/

If NDSU has any chance of AAU status, the School of Pharmacy is the key to the biomedical money needed. The Dean does not yet want folks to start actively advocating legislators, but NDSU MUST get this addition done. If folks want to know more about this, feel free to post questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Are you a pharmacist? Not that it matters. Would like to see the school really take care of the engineers and the pharmacy programs.

Yes, and on the Colleges national board of advisors.

Sudro should have gotten approval last year. Now we have to wait til 2016 legislative session to actually see any progress.

Awesome. My sister is one too. Kinda an underappreciated profession.

Two problems here. The 2016 legislature will probably be facing a budget issue, and the Dunbar Hall replacement is the #1 NDSU project.

My understanding is that after the President's House issue, the Foundation quit funding "bricks and mortar" projects. (Folks can correct me if wrong.....) However, I think there is a possibility that may change as this project is a huge priority for NDSU, and getting the state to fund the full bill will be difficult. I think the dean is thinking a public/private partnership is the way to go.

Didn't we just spend $140 million on the medical school at UND?

Given past experience that would mean that NDSU can expect $0 for Sudro?

Correct. You understand our legislature well.

While I have no doubt that the president's house fiasco(and Barry Hall) soured the Foundation on brick and mortar projects, I wonder if there's something else going on. With DB's SotU address, I really suspect a major fundraising campaign has begun, or is about to. A primary goal will be at least $100M in scholarship and faculty endowments. I suspect the real number might be closer to $250M. Or maybe at least $100M in cash and another $150M+ in structured pledges. (pretty much what UND just got done doing) With that as a priority, I'd think brick and mortar is taking a backseat for now. But Sudro Hall could be an exception for the reasons given.

This is pure wild-ass guessing.

I know they quit managing a construction project. More or less forced to do that. The foundation is funding the SHAC. Makes no sense they would halt funding of buildings in the future.
