Very weak slate in the FCS this week but still a few interesting games....
Key FCS Games
Liberty vs. Southern Illinois 7 p.m. ESPN College Extra/ESPN3- This could be SIU's last stand, with two losses already Dale Lennon's squad cannot afford to fall to 0-3. For Liberty this is yet another chance to build up their at-large resume, following a big home win over Montana with a road win at an MVFC school would be a big feather in their cap.
Northern Arizona at Montana 3:00 p.m. Root Sports NW/Direct TV 101- This game could also be the last stand for the Griz, already with 2 losses in the young 2015 season and no down its starting QB the Griz cannot fall to 1-3 and expect to make the FCS playoffs. Enter Chad Chalich who fought for the starting job over the offseason, he showed a few flashes of brilliance against Liberty but in coach Stitt's fast paced offense he will need to be much more sharp in order to take down a decent NAU squad.
Cal Poly at Montana State 2:30 p.m.- Montana State QB Dakota Prukop had over 500 total yards of offense against EWU last week but it wasn't enough to lead the Bobcats to win. This week should be another high scoring affair with Cal Poly bringing a team in that had a lot of issues stopping UNI's offense at home in a 34-20 loss to the Panthers. Cal Poly is another team that already has two losses, a 1-3 hole is hard to dig out from.
FCS Game of the Week
Stony Brook at William and Mary 6:30 p.m. Comcast Sports Mid-Altantic/SNY- SBU and W&M could very well be the two best teams in the CAA this year. The Tribe came very close to upsetting FBS opponent Virginia last Saturday, falling 35-29 to the Cavilers of the ACC. Meanwhile last weekend Stony Brook crushed usual CAA power New Hampshire 31-6. The Seawolves salty defense has only given up a combined 15 points in 2015.
Last year it took overtime to settle the game between these two teams, with William and Mary winning 27-21. Another OT game wouldn't shock me at all, both teams are very solid defensively and are playing as good as any team in the FCS.
