For those who don't get the Forum, big Sarah Jacobson article.
She needs 13 points to be the all-time Class A scoring leader.

Tonight!

Sarah at 2108 points, family leader.....

Jacobson's mother, Pat (Smykowski) Jacobson scored 2,097 points at Lidgerwood High School from 1979-1984 before becoming an All-American at North Dakota State. Jacobson's older brother, A.J., is North Dakota's all-time Class A boys leading scorer with 2,002 points and now plays basketball at NDSU.

Miss ND Basketball. All-time Class B leading scorer vs All-time leading
Class A scorer. Who should win?
I think of Shanley's win streak and go that way.....

Also nominated - Shanley's Lauren Rotunds (Univrsity of Mary)
Minot's Cassie Askvig (also Mary), Thompson's Shaice Marx (Bemidji State)
and Watford City's Katie Mogen.

Hoping that Shanley takes out Wahpeton's Wascally Wabbit
in the semi-finals tomorrow - Tylee Irwin (2017) - SDSU verbal
Watched Irwin's game tonight, she looks to be 5' 11" - 6' with a slim build.
My amateur take was she has a very good handle, shoots well & can create her own shot as well.
Will never be built like a PF or a C, but with her ball-handling skills
can be a SF/SG. Shanley/Wahpeton had a tough game in the regional,
but am guessing Shanley has enough weapons to beat the Huskies again.

Just an interesting look at Pat's career vs Sarah first year. Different style of play. Minutes logged by Sarah are more and will continue to be that way I feel. Pat shot better from outside but both are close at free throw line. Sarah needs to get them more. I hope this off season Sarah and her teammates take that next step to put this program back on top. They have the pieces to do it. Remember Sarah's mom ranks in the two 2 or 3 in a lot of offensive categories. She was one of the best ever to put on the uniform. Sarah will make her own claim on NDSU. We know she has that in her.

I think D2 is the right level of play for her, and MSUM is a good place to land.

I think she’ll be a solid contributor off the bench for the Dragons, but not a starter or a “star” per se.

I might be wrong, and only time will tell. Best of luck to her.

She probably will start but there's not a lot of disparity between d-1 and d-2. Augie will be competitive in the Summit when they arrive. Half of the NSIC teams would compete for the Summit title if they were in that league.

Also last year's team, not the roster that made it to the 2nd round of the tourney this year. Obviously SDSU has a good program, but some people think the disparity between d-1 and winning d-2 teams is huge and it really isn't.

I think this is kind of a generalization. Maybe the disparity between winning D2 and some D1 teams is not that great. Get out of the mid-majors and the teams you are referring to would get destroyed.

And it also wasn’t the SDSU team that is a 6 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Now I don’t disagree that the top NSIC teams could battle the middle of the pack Summit teams, but right now USD and SDSU are significantly better than the top teams of the NSIC. SDSU plays at least 1 NSIC exhibition game every year and since 2010 only 1 game has been closer than 22 points. Now I’m not saying they play the top team every year, but the games are typically 30+ point affairs. But granted they are also always in Frost so that certainly plays a role, but I would expect both SD schools would roll through the NSIC, at least right now.

summitfever

Another thing to consider is that playing one game against a D1 team is much different than playing D1 every game. Exhibition games are much different in a regular season game.

No, the Bison have not made the NCAA or NIT tournaments since moving to DI.

No, the Bison are not even a regular .500 team in the Summit. Two years below .500 for every one year at or above .500. Under .500 since 2012.

Conference records in the Summit

Can we just be real and say NDSU’s WBB team has absolutely sucked in the last 10-15 years and we need a good, solid coach that doesn’t go on European trips to “find” mediocre players?

Plus I’m not sure on the motivation for hiring or recruiting. NDSU WBBs has been rampant as far as lesbians go. I have no issue with that, as long as its not prejudiced against straight/heterosexual females and or males in terms of coaches and players.

Let’s get real hear and be sane.

And I don’t care if new coach is gay, but let’s just not make it a job qualification nor use that info in any way when selecting a new coach.

I really didn’t think what I posted was surprising or unknown.

This is a quote, said to me from a former woman in our athletic department when discussing with her one of our great teams back in late 80’s: “Aren’t they long and athletic and beautiful”? And yes, the woman who said it was lesbian—which was well-known/understood, although not talked about much back then, at least openly and publicly.

A team of winners who are also attractive? Sounds like a recipe to get the BSA full.

She was dismissed from the team; that doesn't mean she transferred out. Or did I miss something?
