From Saturday's Forum. Should've had some event coinciding with the football opener vs. st. paul. Give the first 1000 fans in the doors a buffalo quarter.

State Quarter to be released Wednesday at capitol.

Buffaloes roaming a silver Badlands scene will make their grand debut Wednesday on the Capitol’s steps.

Their audience and welcoming committee – school kids, coin collectors and anyone else who shows up – will be the first in the state to see, touch and handle the new North Dakota quarter.

The release of North Dakota’s quarter is the 39th in the U.S. Mint’s 50 State Quarters Project, which U.S. Mint Acting Director David Lebryk says has become “the most popular coin project in history.”

After a program Wednesday morning at the State Capitol, the public can line up to exchange currency for full $10 rolls of mint-fresh quarters. Anyone 18 and younger will receive one free new quarter.

Also at the event, the North Dakota Council on the Arts, in conjunction with first lady Mikey Hoeven’s office, will sell a limited-edition commemorative coin set for $5. Each set will have one quarter each from the mints at Denver and Philadelphia. All sales are cash-only.
