We won 30-3 and MT supposedly had 18 JUCO kids that were not allowed to play.
Anyone have knowledge of the MT team back in 69' and could they have made up a 27 pt deficit with a full strength team?

I was 3 months old back then. Kind of looking for some input from the elders on the board.

According to gogriz.com, they lost "several key players" due to transfer rules in the 69 and 70 Camelia bowls. http://www.gogriz.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/060509aaa.html They also called it the Division II championship when it was the college division championship.

I was only 1 in 1969.

Hmmm no mention about their little indiscretions back around that time either? How convenient they left those out.

Think they were busted for paying players a couple years after those Bowl games.

In 1972, their head coach(Swarthout) and four other university officials and coaches were indicted by a federal grand jury for conspiring to illegally use federal-aid money by using some of the funds to pay for fictitious jobs for athletes. Swarthout was eventually found not guilty, but it ended up costing him his job. Student government also pulled out of funding athletics over the matter. And while everyone involved was acquitted, the university had to pay back about a quarter mil to the feds, so something improper was going on, just maybe not criminal.

So THE vaunted University of Montana State was already cheating back in the '70's? Do you think this is the reason they beat us all the time...I mean, have more championships than us...I mean, is it loud and cold?

It was somehow a conspiracy involving a bunch of NDSU hoodlums.
