Bison still play at @IPFW and IUPUI at home for three games. Potential RPI bumps with a 3 game series at #30 South Alabama and a 2 game series at #16 Minnesota.

The ladies continue to play the way they have all year with closing out the regular season and winning the conference tourney could lead to a decent seed in the NCAA. But we have to take care of business first. Keep up the great work ladies and continue to your hard work and winning ways. Go Bison

Looks like this is on BTN plus. Does that just mean I have to put my directv login on B10 network site?

I think Plus is the Big Ten's online version that is a paysite.

Bison could end up with a 3 seed this year, but highly likely they end up in Minneapolis against the Gophers again.

I don't think this has been posted yet...

My favorite part from the article:

"One of the truly remarkable programs in college softball, if not all of college sports, is at it again."

Good Gawd was IPFW turrible. This week's opponents are the only way to boost RPI... the rest of the conference is a boat anchor.

Yeah Bison face 3 quality teams to close out the season. Will be fun to see how it plays out.

Lost games to uno and usd, not complete boat anchors.

any chance we end up with a 2 seed? There has to be a chance the Gophers end up a 2 seed. I'd think.

Yes the Bison could be a 2, but I don't see the Gophers dropping out of a 1. They were ranked around 10th and should win most if not all the remaining games.

Rankings hold more water than RPI?

I think you're saying if MN is a #1 we're going there no matter what and I understand that, but when they choose the 16 #1 seeds is it based more on RPI or rankings.

2 seed vs. 3 seed doesn't really matter other than getting to bat last in the first game. Which seed we would get has more to do with who gets assigned to the same regional as anything else.

Unless the Gophers self-destruct in the next few weeks, the Bison will be playing in Minneapolis for the regionals. And they won't play the Gophers on the first day. This is a big a lock as you'll find.

(all assuming the Bison win the Summit tournament, of course)

I'm not sure about your first sentence. I'm assuming they rank each team 1 -4 then they play as close to home as possible after the seedings are done. But I really don't know for sure. I do think being a 2 seed is more important than you think since they won't have a ranked team like Auburn was last year in the regional.

I think other than the one seed they will move you up or down as needed to ensure a good geographic fit. Bison have been hosed in the past.

NCAA DI softball selection process(and VB and baseball and soccer and a few other sports):

1. Select the top 16 seeds and give them the option to host a regional.
2. Sort everybody else purely by geography.
3. Try to make sure you don't have 3 top teams or 3 bottom feeders in the same regional(but don't try too hard).
4. Rank each regional 1-4.

Draw a 350mi circle around Minneapolis. Assuming the Gophers stay in the top 16, and the Bison win the Summit tourney, you can be certain the other two teams will come from within that circle if possible. UNI will go to MSP if they make it. Other possibilities would be Drake, UWGB, etc. I don't think they put teams from the same conference in the same regional if they can avoid it, so Iowa and Wisc are out.

Wow....that's a gap of epic proportion...unreal really if you think about it

If any of those teams were better rpi we would be sitting good, entire conference is a drag
