Rodriquez, Bengtson, Julson, Zillmer and Knutson should all make the NCAAs.

Bison have no shot at 133, 157, 165 and 197. 149...maybe.

Wow. Super stacked at 125. Weird.

Is the WWC stacked at 125 or are the other conferences that weak?

The # of positions granted is based on ranked wrestlers in the weight class from your conference.....I think!

At 125, the WWC has 4 guys ranked in the top 20.

Tyler Cox, WYO #12
Josh Martinez, AFA #14
Chasen Tolbert, UVU #15
Josh Martinez, NDSU #16

They will likely need all 5 to win in order to have a shot at the Championship. Ream has really come on at 149 and is the #1 seed.

Why the fuck is this not working on trackwrestling? And the video on Go Bison is down. What an embarrassment NDSU is when it comes to media and webcast. I'm so sick and tired of this school not spending even one cent on a good webcast. It's been an absolute joke for 10 years.

At least the video is back up now. On the one hand, I am happy that I get to watch this at all. But on the other hand, it does seem like they come up with a lot of this broadcast as they go. (Video of one mat, then split screen, then clocks, then scores, then sound, ...)

Just got here in time to see Mitch wrestle. Great match that went to OT. Mitch came out on top. Bison 2-0 in the semis.

With the way he was favoring his ankle, this could be a tough match.

Anyone know what the default was for? I don't remember seeing any problems with the UVU wrestler in the semis.

His leg looked to be injured, not sure if it was the knee or ankle. He was really limited by it though, and does not lose that match if he doesn't get hurt. He'll still get into NCAAs as a wildcard but now he goes from likely being seeded 10-13 to possibly going unseeded and getting drawn in, which could be a tough blow.

Great performance as a team though. Peterson beat Rotert in the first round, which was a huge upset and was great to see. Nehring is much improved from early in the year and does a couple things really well. He could develop into something very nice.

The 5 that won all looked anywhere from pretty good to great. Nice to see Rodriguez avenge his loss to Tolbert. He deserved the outstanding wrestling award. Bengston wasn't great, but he did what he had to do. Great job to battle back in the finals and get the takedown with 15 seconds left to take the lead. He can be a tough matchup for some guys at NCAAs. Ream looked great. I would not want to get drawn to face him in NCAAs. Hopefully he gets drawn into a good spot and makes a run. Julson didn't have to do much. Zillmer wasn't great but added another quality win. Hopefully Knutson gets seeded decently, with a couple wins over Evarard overriding his loss.

Congrats to Kish on the coach of the year award.

Does anyone know how the heavyweight qualifiers were determined? The bracket showed a need for a true second match between Knutson and the WYO guy. However, the bracket didn't show a result for that match, if it happened. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Knutson was hurt and opted not to wrestle the true second match. Instead he will trust the NCAA to look at his 24-8 record and his past wins over Harms to put him in the Tournament as an "at-large" pick IIRC. It means he won't be seeded and instead will get a shitty draw in the brackets.

Are the At-Large's not seeded or just thinking that may happen?

Big Bird

I think they're seeded if deemed good enough. Otherwise, with B12 getting no AQ spots and all of there guys having to get in through wild card spots, you could see a high seed get drawn to face Alex Dieringer, which would be brutal and unfair. Also:

"On March 9, wrestlers in each weight class will receive an updated Win %, RPI and coaches’ ranking that includes all
competition through the qualifying events." from the ncaa manual.
