Wasn't he primarily a QB recruit? Guessing they're looking at him for another position?

Sort of 3 for 3.
Frank Veldman out of the Twin Cities left the team after a year and didn't play. College football just wasn't his thing. Athletically the family has the helluva good genes and you know the 6-4 isnt a BS exaggerated height like half the players. Hopefully there are more Veldmans in the pipeline.

We're like Duke with the Plumlee brothers. They just keep coming.

This one has to sting at WIU. I maintain they have a fantastic coach there; question is can he get kids to come there.....

So is this a possible COA stipend that may have made him change his verbal to NDSU or was it just a flat out recruitment or big brother asking him what are you doin!? Some FCS schools aren't going to be able to compete with us in that area? I'm assuming NDSU has some internal plans which may or may not be passed on to recruits, that haven't been made public from all the reading in between the lines we've done?

Matt Veldman: "He made his own choice. I told him you have to see yourself being successful off the field first."

Welcome to NDSU Michael, its great to have another Veldman in the Bison ranks. The kicker here is that the old man played for the school to the north not to be mentioned.

I figured he likely stayed out of it, if matt had his say it would have started with NDSU verbal not WIU... Just thinking it likely is the other item that has been a hot topic here for couple of weeks.

Not if the police go all "Kent State" on campus.
This alarming footage is from 2011.
Just yet another reason that I didn't want my son going there.

Veldman, 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, helped lead Becker to a state Class 4A championship.

A top-10 Mr. Football finalist, he completed 171 of 282 attempts for a 61-percent completion percentage,
good for 2,544 yards and 34 touchdowns with five interceptions.

Western Illinois is coached by former Minnesota-Duluth head coach Bob Nielson.

I am pretty sure the father played for Moorhead State and not the Whioux.

You are correct. 1980. I couldnt remember if it was Moorhead or Concordia.

If you go by this listing, then Veldman was the top rated high school QB in Minnesota this year.

http://www.gopherhole.com/page/show/769454-class-of-2015-minnesota-hs-football-recruits

It does not officially "rank" the players. However if you scroll down to where they list the individual positions, you will notice they are not alphabetical, and appear to be in order of ability/recruitment level.
