Big tough midwestern o-lineman, the perfect kind of walk-on for Coach Kramer and this program.

Welcome to NDSU. Good frame and size to develop. Some nice pancake blocks in his senior season highlights. Not too bad with blocking technique, but could improve on footwork.

That is the best post on BV in months. I cannot stop laughing. "but could improve on footwork." Kiper. Now if you can get Frank Caliendo to repeat that, doing his Kiper and then rolling into some Gruden. So funny. yes, I do have a sense of humor...just not in the recruiting thread!!! haha. Thanks for the laugh. #thanksmel

Priceless. Unitentional comedy here folks. Nobody loves height/weight like Gabe. I was expecting him to be like...Just wait for a year with Kramer, we will have him down to 225 in no time.....

funny... should have put LBS. Although a 300 pound 6-5 linebacker would have been nuts!

I think he forgot the purple. PWO's with D2 offers are nothing to scoff at.

Joe Haeg walked on from Brainerd at 6-5 245.
Both Bemidji and Brainerd have Paul Bunyan statues.

Do you really need to know anything else?

confirmed yes, could be 2, could be 5. PWO's are difficult to get info on. Some of these young men think people dont care about walk ons, but NDSU's fans are different. I got this info from a family member and in his most polite way didnt understand why Max wasnt on page yet. I explained it wasnt intentional, I just didnt have any indication NDSU was recruiting him. Max went to camp and took 2 unofficial visits and no mentions on his twitter feed. Told him I rely heavily on social media to to get info and also emails from fans, players, parents and coaches.

Kid looks great in his video. He may actually prefer playing at the college level where he can test himself some more. The players going against him before were on the smaller side.

Good size and seems solid in both pass and run blocking. I think he will benefit quite a bit from Coach Riley.

His highlight video looked pretty good. Too bad the QB he was protecting on some of the clips couldn't throw, well, at least to the right team.

Hey don't forget Akeley's version:

I am by no means anywhere near an expert, but I am of the belief his pass pro could use some work. I remember Turner's knock was he bent at the waist instead of "sitting" and he does the same thing.

I am with you on the zero expertise wagon. I too felt the same thing on fundamentals. His run blocking looks a bit heavy in the "leaning" category for strength instead of a stable/balanced leg drive. This looks powerful but probably lacks the balance needed against the better LBs and DL that can shed. Pass blocking highlights were a bit limited and I think there are more intricacies involved in pass blocking in regards to footwork, stance, etc but I thought it looked solid.

Long story short, I don't claim to have any scouting ability, just my eye test, but I think he has the size and ability for Coach Riley to certainly mold into a contributing player.

Totally agree. On a high school OL prospect at our level I look at 3 things: Frame, does he move his guy in the run game, does he get beat on pass pro. Everything else is going to be added on by Coach Kramer and taught by Coach Riley anyway and I'm definitely not smart enough to figure potential out on grainy YouTube quality video.

I'm excited to see a PWO commitment from a kid who had a D2 offer. It shows that he's willing to work and earn a spot on the depth chart/scholarship. I think these kind of guys are what really makes the program at the FCS level. They drive the scholarship players to either improve their game or sit, they provide the bodies to fill holes in the roster, and in some cases like Haeg and Schaetz they develop into studs at their positions.

Also, check the footwork. KIIIIIIPERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
