Is he a scholarship or a PWO?

Welcome to The Herd! I could care less if he is a PWO, partial or full scholarship kid. I've learned they all can be good. Our staff can sniff out talent like no other.

He is now part of the Bison Nation thats all , full ride, partial or PWO is irrelevant. Coaches know what is best.

...I'm legitimately asking. I know we are getting towards the end of our scholarship money, so we are likely to see some PWOs commit. Some of us actually like to keep up with our team, not just stir the pot on an opposing teams board.

Partial scholarship. Kid willing to compete. A lot of depth at that position. Very athletic. Reminder ALOT of our kids are very small partials to start. Just like this kid. Welcome to ndsu!

I thought it was an okay question. I mean what the hell is a discussion forum for? However if you read the article in the link above you would see he was offered a scholarship.

I smile every time I think of Joe Haeg being a walk-on. :)

Sounds like the kid wanted to come here and we wanted him to come, but we were not in a position to really offer him and he as not going to come as a walk on. Of course, that changed last week when what 3/2 Schollys opened up. Apparently recruiting does not use a round ball either. The game within the game within the game.....fun!

NDSU's modest tuition has to be a factor in recruiting players in these partial / PWO situations.

Good article from the Forum tonight on Hendricks' decision to come to NDSU. Didn't realize his dad was the BHS football coach and AD.

His dad was also a pretty dang good running back at MSUM (Moorhead State back then) in the mid-80s.

Further, just how much can Duluth really give any one player? NSIC only allows a max of 28, well below the D2 max. Further, this article says Duluth is only doing 24.

So, in summary, I can't help but wonder if Duluth's offer was even a half ride? Doubt they do any fulls at all, and wonder if they do some quarters? Or stick with halfs and hope for good free players? Not sure how they do it; if anyone knows, chime in.

One of the bizarre things about FCS level and below recruiting...is that all of these kids say..."Just got offered." That could be like a penny. We have some kids on full rides, but not nearly what you would think...especially early in a career. Some kids are monster recruits. When we are up against an FBS offer, it is typically a full ride....but you would be shocked. Borderline walk on, get the kid here, and hope they improve, grind, get bigger, buy in...etc. When those things happen, and they earn their spot on the depth chart, we increase money. It is also why it is so important to have a guy like Joe Haeg become a superstar, because you can sell that. Levi Jordheim will be the next story. Pass up other schools money, take our walk on opportunity (in his case) and early your spot. So when kids say they got offered, it is awesome, but it doesn't mean they are on a full.

Don't know if this made the multitude of posts
on the multitude of threads, but QB James Hendricks
has the chance to pick up some valuable experience
traveling with the team,
same as Easton Stick did last season as a true freshman.

His absence (Carson Wentz) means redshirt freshman
Easton Stick will get his first start. Sophomore Cole Davis
moves to the No. 2 spot and true freshman James Hendricks
from Bemidji, Minn., will travel
to Indiana State as the No. 3 quarterback.

And how awesome is it to have Veldman also. this gives coaches another QB to run scout team plays.
