I'm ready for more roundball talk.

USD had a fairly poor non-conference showing but has started conference play 2-1 with wins over Denver and IPFW. Senior guard Tyler Larson leads the team in scoring, assists, and rebounding. This will be the first meeting with USD with Craig Smith as head coach.

Game is on Wednesday and will be broadcast on ESPN3 and Midco.

Will be interesting to see how USD plays under Smith. He's a huge get for their program and should have them more than competitive.

The next 6 games are going to be a key stretch for us. We have 2 home games and 4 on the road.

The Dakota dump can be a tricky place to play. USD has some nice players and Coach Smith is a good coach, Id expect a great effort from the yotes. I know our effort will be there, we need to take of the ball much better then we did against Omaha or it could be a long night.

I haven't had time to read this thread but I will say LA played bad last night as he would force the drive with guys wide open on the wing. I could tell AJ was specifically frustrated with him during the game about this. Also the coaches needed to use Werner as an advantage and never once gave him the ball in the post even though their inside guys were rather weak.

I just didn't understand the thought process of how we played when they went small. I agree on asking why didn't we get it down into Werner and let him go to work. If the double comes the kickouts were going to be there. Instead we had him standing out at the 3 point line handing the ball off to the guards trying to use him a screen yet USD was beating our guys around the screens and to the point on the floor for the drive. It was quite predictable last night. Heck how many TO did we have with USD jumping the passing lane because they knew the dang ball was going to be passed there. In past games we seemed to have done a better job of mixing up the O and not running to the same spots on the floor over and over. USD tried to give us the game at the end and the team didn't step up and take it. 2 and ones at the end and we miss the free throws, cmon. LA was off and when it came down to crunch time we didn't have a young guy that said give me the ball and I am going to score. That was a perfect spot that after some more experience AJ needs to step up and get it done. It was a experience thing last night.
