For those with Sam's or Costco memberships, regarding Sioux Falls:

For Sam's, exit on 26th St., and take a left. It turns into Louise and after about 3-4 blocks, Sam's will be on your right after the curve.

For Costco (not as handy), take the 41st St exit, and take a left. Go about 2 miles, and take a right on Grange. (It is after Scheels which is at Western.) Costco is about a block south on 41st on your left. When leaving, get back on 41st (take a left), and then take another left on Western, at Scheels. Head south to I 229, and use that to get back to I 29.

A Blizzard watch was issued this morning for most of eastern South Dakota beginning Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening. I am driving from Sioux Falls beginning this afternoon and plan to arrive in Frisco mid-afternoon Thursday. Safe travels everyone!

Many of you may yourself, or know of others that will be heading to Frisco, Texas tomorrow to get there in time for the pre-game festivities on Friday. Because of that I wanted to make sure if you are traveling south tomorrow that you are aware of some serious travel hazards in South Dakota developing on Thursday. Unlike the immediate Fargo Moorhead area, much of South Dakota has anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of snow on the ground, most of it very fluffy that fell earlier this week. A very strong wind will develop over the entire region on Thursday and areas with snow on the ground could easily record ground blizzard conditions. That will be true locally to our north (Highway 2 and northward), but more importantly for anyone traveling to Frisco, to our south in South Dakota. There is a Blizzard Watch from near Watertown, SD to the Sioux City, IA area. The wind will likely gust to over 40 mph along the I29 corridor tomorrow with the worst conditions tomorrow afternoon into early evening. The wind should die down late tomorrow evening across South Dakota to a more manageable level. If you leave later today, it will be blustery, but nothing severe with similar conditions projected for Friday, but tomorrow travel may be very difficult in South Dakota. If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to contact me.

It looks like for all that green (or is it yellow...I'm damn near colorblind) it is a blizzard watch that starts at 11am tomorrow until 3am early Friday morning.

The blue seems to be a Winter Weather Advisory from noon tomorrow until 3am.

Just went through Souix City. The steam/smoke from the smoke stacks was blowing hard south on the tallest stacks, the medium height were blowing west, and the shortest were blowing hard North.

I've had enough experience with winds aloft but this was pretty cool to see.

I wimped out last night. I had ambitions of driving straight thru but we stopped in Wichita again this year. Now I'm wide eyed and bushy tailed ready for the final push. Minor observation is cheapest gas (so far @1.79) was Sioux Falls so fill up there. Everyone else has been in the 1.83-1.99 range, so a few cents shouldn't matter. I keep thinking no way is my tank full yet for $34. Safe travels HERD, time for me to rustle up the rest of my clan...

Saw one of you jokers last night at the Vermillion exit at about 5:15 PM. Driving a converted airport shuttle type vehicle, white, with "Thundering Herd" on the side of it. You had stopped off at the rest stop and were clogging up trafffic behind you as you were making your way across the overpass to turn off on the exit headed south. Roads in the Twin City metro are horrible right now. We got around 3 inches today and it slicked everything up. I left work at 1 today, made it home a little before 3. Must have seen a dozen accidents along the way. If you are driving through the cities tonight leave plenty of time to get where you are going. 94 from Albertville all the way into Minneapolis is slow going so if you have to make a flight at the airport leave extra early.

i have to agree with you. I did check the official Delta policy, and it is the rule, but I am sure it is not uniformly enforced. Our flight attendant is following the letter. In my mind, dog is much happier at a decent boarding facility, and with the fees Delta charges, probably a wash in cost.
