Sorry if this is in another thread, but I have not seen it. Any news on Zach Vraa's injury and the possibility of playing this weekend? Thanks.

Sorry no real info, but I'm guessing they will continue to say they are hoping he is available but they won't know until game time. In all reality, they probably have a good idea and I'm betting he'll want to see the field even if he's not 100%.

Zach Vraa is listed as "or" with RJ Urzendowski at WR on Bison depth chart. Suppose that means he's still questionable.

what about Woods?

Woods is listed as a starter and considering he is OK after that injury I'm guessing it was a stinger and he is good to go after this much time off.

Dont know why some WRs wont wear a helmet with visor especially when catching a pass facing the sun

I agree. I mean the oxygen supply in the EMU's will last for like 6-8.5 hours. So that's plenty of time for a football game.

Wait, what are we talking about?

If you're talking about tinted visor, I was under the impression that they're illegal except possibly certain eye problems. I'm usually wrong, though. :)

One of our WR dropped a pass last year in the Championship game and the reason given was that he was facing the sun. I am wondering why not wear a anti-glare sun visors.

I was under the impression that Vraa had a hamstring injury, not an injury to his eyes due to the lack of using a tinted visor?

I believe this is true. During the FCS kickoff game between EWU and SHSU, Adam's was wearing a tinted visor and was pulled out for a few plays to remove it after it was brought to the officials attention.

This is CK setting up the redbirds nicely. Rope-a-dope. Make them think Vraa is a game time decision and then bam!. First offensive play of the game is Vraa over the top for a bomb!

This is not as far off as you might think. There is no great advantage to playing it coy with Vraa but one does exist. The Redbird defense does have to prepare itself differently if 82 can go. If they are preparing as though he will be a part of the festivities and he is not, then they "wasted" that preparation time. If their defensive gameplan is to disregard that position as someone who cannot get open aganst 1 on 1 and Vraa is 90% of his normal self then there will be a mismatch all day long. Belichick does this kind of crap all the time.

If Zach is able to dress and run around a bit, I like that it creates an issue for their defensive gameplan. Maybe he'll be good enough to go out there and make a single catch that will be huge and change the game? I certainly don't expect him to be 100%, but like Herd mentioned, even a 90% Vraa is a pretty good wide receiver.

The REAL QUESTION is not if he will or won't play----cause he will

It's whether he can make plays and be effective?

I would guess he has tested it in practice and the coaches have a good idea what to expect from him.

He certainly brings the deep ball threat to our offense that otherwise isn't as dangerous

And he now demands the attention from the ISU defense. If the Redbirds are smart, I would guess that they already planned for this contingency.

Whether he plays at 100% or not at all, it was brilliant to "leak" information about his improvement as the week has gone on. Now Illinois State must prepare for all possibilities. It would have been impossible to hide him once he started working out and practicing.
