Here's his blurb from Kohl's kicking camp siter:

"Cam was invited to participate at the 2014 National Scholarship Camp in July. He showed flashes of consistency and repeatability, has a good motion, needs to work on generating more power at the point of contact to drive his KOs farther, good talent, has shown great progress since 2013 in leg speed and overall explosiveness."

He's ranked 86th, btw.

"Flashes of consistency" seems kind of like an oxymoron to me...

Welcome Cam! Can't wait to see our next stud kicker!

Anybody know what Keller was ranked if anything?

Rankings for kickers seems like a crapshoot to me. I mean, all rankings are, but especially kickers.

Not sure if they come from the same high school in Eau Claire, but Tom Barneson, so. kicker is from Memorial HS in Eau Claire. The videos show that Cam could be the real deal.

I like the importance we place on recruiting good kickers and punters. I'm amazed at how bad special teams are throughout the FCS, even for playoff teams.

I think a kicker and a punter is easily one of the most important players on the team.

Wasn't it Georgia Southern that had the terrible fg kicker when we played them?

Yeah, they got him off the soccer team a few days before the game

With our ball control strategy I'd say yes

If they have a kicker, they may have nipped us. I know it was a long ways to go to get the 1st, but I still don't know why they didn't go for it on that last 4th down.

Why didn't Wofford give the ball to Breitenstein on several fourth and shorts? We dodged a lot of bullets in 2012.

Welcome, Cam!

Wofford didn't have a kicker either. I recall their coach saying that if they would have scored on that 4th down play when they were inside our 5, they would have went for 2, rather than a game tying extra point. Wow.

That was pretty awesome. Not sure what his range is but it's not too often you need to kick one longer than 49. The young guy can kick

49 yards bouncer off the crossbar... That was awesome.

I can't remember clearly, but I want to say he bounced it off the crossbar, then back off the top crossbar of the rails in front of the first row of fans. Hockey fans should appreciate the double pipe shot considering the opposing team.

If you look at his FGs from the game they all had something in common. They were never struck timidly. This is big for gauging confidence that a kicker has, in my opinion. Being a soccer player my whole life I know that whenever I struck the ball with the intent of power and not finesse I was always more accurate, which I think was a direct correlation to how I was feeling confidence wise that day. I think the way he approached the 49 yarder was the same as an extra point, no fear of missing it, but just striking it with as much power under control as he could. Just a thought I guess.

I think we have a winner right now. just needs to keep that confidence growing.

Just on a random Saturday night I figured I bump the thread of the guy who kicked the biggest field goal in the history of this program... and possibly to shame the last poster in this thread.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs_aEaitp98&t=7666s

If you're still drinking tonight pour one out for Cam "brass balls" Pederson and for the 7th anniversary (plus 6 days) of the biggest kick in Bison football history.
