That 69 home winning streak is pretty crazy but I'd be willing to bet they are in the DII range comparatively

Maybe I skimmed it too quickly, but what's wrong with it? A smaller programmed is getting some publicity that they have earned. Let them have their moment in the sun

Might have something to do with them saying they have the longest active win streak in college football, with 24. (Hint: there is a team with 32 in a row.)

But they also have a 69 game home win "streak", doesn't really specifically explain it that way though. Pretty sure ours doesn't come close to that? What is our current away/neutral field winning streak?? As we have not lost on the road since Dec 2010.

No, it doesn't specifically say, but when you say a team has the longest active win streak in college football, and then the first number you say is they have won 24 in a row, most people would assume that is what you are referring to. Personally, I think if you are going to talk about a home win streak (or away win streak), you would specify that, whereas saying "longest extant win streak" implies home and away. If they are referring to the home win streak (which is very impressive), I think they were being a little misleading, but you could be right.

Oh, and I think NDSU's away win streak is in the low 20s right now, but I'm not completely sure.

If you count Neutral Fields (aka Frisco) it is 22 as of Saturday.

In the spirit of the Newsweek story (a "North American" spin), Mexico City wins.

Why don't they write about a dominant team in America? Like the Bison, or if they are looking for teams with little publicity give it to one of the DII or DIII powers. Who cares about Canadian college football teams. What is there like 10 of them in all of Canada? Do they play American rules or that goofy CFL crap?

Corrections: This article mistated the year Nordiques left Quebec City, it was 1995, not 1994. The article also mispelled Gilles Lepine and gave Alex Skinner's name incorrectly. It also misstated when Laval played Concordia, it was at the Dunsmore Cup. Also, this article stated Laval has the longest winning record in college football, it is actually North Dakota State.

Unlike some journalist(s) they own up to their oversight! Quoted from very bottom of article.

Good grief are we really that bitter every day??? Once you found out it was Canadian you can check out. We make fun of Canada and the sport they call hawkey... But come on they along with Britain are probably our allies until the end of the world... Just because things are different and they talk different doesn't mean they don't exist.

There are 27 teams but remember there is only 35-40 million Canadians total.

I thought it was interesting, more around their funding and how it worked.

Understand when I say this, that I truly dislike Canadians. Having operated a business in grand forks for a few years I spent a lot of time with them. I found them to be generally entitled and prone to unsolicited opinion giving about American policies, people, traffic, laws, pretty much everything all the while purchasing goods from me because their own country's policies make it more affordable to leave the nation for the weekend than to stick around and purchase dry goods and clothing in Winnipeg. Not all of them, of course some were more than pleasant and even downright good to talk to, but all in all I found them to be a bit holier than thou.

That said....

A few moments of ignorance (winning streak whoops!) aside I thought the article was fascinating! A really interesting look into a different world of football and a dynasty built in a flash based on pride and preservation of a weird form of sectarian national identity.

We get plenty of love, let the snooty french sons of guns get a little:)

Thanks for sharing!
